Probably an unfair rating but I'm very unfamiliar with this kind of brew and must say that it confuses me. It smells like a mixture of stout, Jaegermeister, lambic, and mintuu black. The taste isn't far behind. For me it spreads I'm too many directions to get a high grade. Awful beer.

Dark brown with a tall foamy tan head. Musty grains with some aniseed, herbs, and brett. An interesting aroma. Light sweet start, with a quite turn to dry black malts. Soft on the tongue. Light mint and herbal flavors. Bits of dates and raisins. Dry spruce and dark cocoa. A fall day saison. 3/13

Srogi vintage - 2012. W aromacie czerwone owoce, przyprawowe fenole i lekka czekolada, może nie jakieś superintensywne, ale bardzo przyjemne. W smaku wytrawne do cna, świetnie zbalanowane pomiędzy czekoladowymi naleciałościami, czerwonymi owocami (najbardziej wiśnie, ciekawy typ utlenienia) a przyprawowością, pieprznością trunku. Sarasota, Fl - on tap at Cock and Bull Pub, Dark brown leading to black pour, tight mocha colored head. Aroma has some molasses accents, a touch of chocolate. Opaque, black-brown with tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of eucalyptus, roasted malt, yeast, caramel and spice.

Medium body and medium/low carbonation.

A 2012 vintage that’s seemed to have aged perfectly. At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Black as midnight with an inch of rocky, beige foam atop that holds and leaves a thick and messy lace. Strong berry sherbet and eucalyptus and tea-tree oil notes on the nose amongst a blend of mace, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove spices. On the palate it is spice driven, dry and creamy with a malt, hop, wood and spice finish. Slight smoke, camphor, eucalypt, bitter orange peel. mace, dark chocolate, clove and twiggy bark. Really mouthfilling with a solid malt and US hop base. Lengthy bitterness that melds everything. There is a touch of nettles and rosemary; this has a ridiculous amount of complexity going for it at three years old. Somewhat medicinal. Well rounded and curious. A herbal aperitif. Dark brown almost black with a big beige head. Aroma is cherries, prunes, grapes, yeast, caramel, chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, some red fruits. Bitter aftertaste. Ugh. This was a terrible beer. The only good thing about this beer was the aroma. Chai spices with not much else. The pour was a stout like dark brown with a one finger tan head. Taste was pretty bad. Too much going on and it didn’t work. Strong spices, dark roasted malt made it a little bitter. Yeast and malt were drowned out by the crazy spices. Takes a lot for me to dislike a saison but make it a straight black licorice bomb and that will happens. Dont advertise a secret blend of spices if it really just tastes like anise. Warn people.
