557 days from bottling. Crystal clear copper. With medium tan head that dissipates quick. Wine in the nose, and some yeast funk. Huge champagne, wine, oak and ripe yeast notes. Bitter and musty. Wahnwitzig verbrettet und vielschichtig verkopft. Wunderbar honigfarbende Optik mit fein samtigen Schaum, der sich zuerst erregt aufbäumt und dann lange ein sanftes Rinnsal auf den Sud hinterlässt. Toll. Grüner Apfel, daraus resultierende Calvadosschärfe, hart WILD, kurz fusselig, dann fetter Hopfenfruchtcocktail, später wieder der Krachlederne!? Wow. Der tripeltypischen Schaumschlacht hat das Fass den garaus gemacht. Schlank, hopfenscharf, holzig süß, sour as hell und am Ende einfach nur ein Extrembier der herausfordernden Sorte. HOT. Smells tart, funky and strongly of red wine barrel. Very dark red color with a tight long lasting ring of light pink foam. Not overwhelmingly sour, good use of Brett (also subdued) to calm it down a bit. The hops are still apparent, wine barrel in the taste as well, fruity with characteristics of currant and green apple. Drinks more like a sparkling wine than a beer. Great effervescent palate, refreshing and extremely drinkable. This might change my mind about sours . . . Aromas of pronounced Belgian yeast, red wine, crisp golden malts, cracker malts, bright fruitiness, tartness, white vinegar, caramel and heavy carbonation. Pours a bright golden orange with a lively white head and lacing. Taste brings plenty of juicy, sour, tart fruits upfront. Mid palate offers a wide variety of barrel wood, light red wine, caramel, cracker malts, tangerine, bright orange, citrus, lemon spruce and crisp Belgian yeast. Finishes well carbonated, juicy and moderately bitter. Lots of Belgian yeast, Brett, tart cracker malts, juicy fruits, light red wine, moderate bitterness and barnyard funk dance about the palate. Overall, this is absolutely superb. The harmony between IPA, wine barrel and brett is just perfect. The status quo of the style. On tap industry public house. Purple slight haze color. Slight medicinal aroma. Oooooooo, this is strong. Yes, some tartness but this is out to get yer attention. Doesn’t hide the alky well.
