Super deep, dark brown and almost black coloured body with a slick, oily head and a deep dark brown head, about two centimetres tall with a microfoamed head. Aroma of dark, roasted malts, oatmeal, earth and a ton of pitted and deep fruits like plums, prunes, grapes and raisins along with a deep earthy bite and pungency from the alcohol and a dry oaky scent throughout. Medium to Full-bodied; Super strong roasty flavours abound with oats, grain, alcohol, prunes, plums and more roasty flavours and caramelised bitterness throughout with a deep pungency and very dry flavour with the caramel and oat notes coming out the strongest with some chocolate and a good deal of coffee noticeable as well. Aftertaste shows a lot of grain, some dry notes, but this is all about the chocolate, coffee and especially the residual sugars, which leave a great complexity and pungency near the end. Overall,a great deep pungent stout with a lot of dry flavours, a ton of complexities originating from the sugars and malts, but also a nice chocolate and even coffee finish. Great to sample and well worth trying to find, if you can still nab one from somewhere! I sampled this corked and caged 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods on Eye (I) Street in Foggy Bottom, Washington on 23-June-2015 for US$19,99 sampled at home in Manassas, Virginia on my birthday, 30-June-2017, a bit more than two years after purchasing this one.

2015 750ml cork and caged bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and topped by a small layer of tan colored foam at the head that settles quickly to the body below. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, dark malts, some earthy roasty bitterness, bourbon soaked oak and vanilla, plenty of barrel notes, and some alcohol heat. The flavor follows suit with the bitter dark chocolate and roasted dark malts up front followed by notes of bourbon and oak laden vanilla with some earthy bitterness on the back end to offer up some balance while the alcohol lets you know this one is a big beer. Nearly full bodied and slick on the mouthfeel with soft carbonation that leads to a bitter dark chocolate, and bourbon soaked oak finish. I heard this one may be infected, but that wasn't the case. Solid barrel aged imperial stout in the classic stout genre without all the adjuncts.

Tap at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City. Not amazing for this brewer or an imperial. A little think and lacking full flavor.

Large brown head, lasting with a nice saggy lacing.black colored. Nose is whisky and chocolate. Body is full, oily on the palate, soft carbo. Fairly sweet malts, caramel with notes of chocolate, light roast, gettin a bit much coconut, soy and the booze level is about maxed. Finish is a bit sweet, soy more so, losing me, i tried but were just heading in the same old direction. Another over done BB Impy Stout. Not refined, lower class. Maybe I’m growing up??!! Fuckin BB aged Impy Stouts dont do it for me any more??!! BUUUUUURRRP. 2015 750 from statelineliquors.

Bottle, september 17th 2016. Black body with a small tanned head. Aroma of coffee, bourbon, pretty strong alcohol notes. Taste of oak, leather, a bit astringency, making a harsh bitter finish.

Nice one. Roasty, toasty, malty but with a slight hop tinge. Bourbon and oak underline the flavor profile. Really good looking with deep darkness and full, weighty palate.

Bottle, 2015 vintage cellared for about a year. Deep dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Aroma is rich with bourbon barrel notes, light roast, and some char. Swirling notes and layers of flavor... complex. Good woody bourbon barrel notes along with espresso and dark chocolate. Some vanilla too. Ends with a bit of char to compliment the sweet boozy barrel treatment.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. This is a deep and dark brown looking one, only a small filmy but lacing beige head. I get a immediate wood-up thing blended with all the roastiness. Green strawberry sourness in a way? Strange but nice. Hints of vanilla also, and perhaps some dark wood in the back. Traces of cocoa and chocolate. Tastes quite nice. It has that slight wood acidity on the taste also, not to disturbing, but it is somewhat mouth drying and almost a bit astringent at the beginning. Lots of strong and powerful flavors. Sharp alcohol is present. As is dark bitter chocolate but it’s not heavy or to thick in the mouth. It’s undoubtedly a good one. 02.05.2014

From bottle pours a black body with a creamy tan head. So many elements in the aroma...chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, caramel, cherries, yeast, and of course bourbon. The flavor reinforced these elements along with burnt sugar, molasses, and some earthy notes. Very complex! Rich creamy smooth mouthfeel. The flavor just went on and on. I didn’t want it to stop. Most amazing stuff!
