COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex Double Stout.

Bottle from The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a black colour with a foamy mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, oats, some roasted malts, slight caramel, a little coffee and subtle vanilla. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, oats, some roasted malts, slight caramel, a little coffee, dark fruits and subtle soy sauce. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, cocao bitterness in the finish. A full flavoured imperial stout, lots of roasted and chocolatey flavours. Less alcoholic than it is and perfectly balanced. Lovely.

Pitch black, white head. Smell is liquorice, wood, hint of vanilla, resin, dark fruit, spices. Taste is full and bold, wood, coffee, chocolate, with a smooth wood finish. Like old furniture, nice. Pure chocolate, smooth and oily, delicious beer.

pitch black brew with a nice looking dark brown head that sports great lacing and okay retention. Roasty malt and some mild coffee... enough mild maltiness to help carry the dark malts.. a bit of dark cherry essence to add to the complexities.. Dry dark bittersweet cocoa... roasty and a good dark profile midpalate shows with some decent sweetness... pretty rich.. finishes with a bit of brownie batter essence and dark fruits.. a bit of spicy hops with warmth, but the hops are definitely subdued for a Pacific stout... Medium body... not quite thick enough for the style IMO... but carbonation is about right...

Near black color with a dark dense head. Roasted malt, molasses, light pine hops and dark chocolate. Flavors match aromas with hints of raspberries. West coast style stout. Burnt malt finish. Only problem is 25% of my 4 pack was flat. 10/13

Bottle at home in London. Picked up at Cask Pub and Kitchen (London) from their discount shelf; so, I figure this beer is probably at least one to two years out of date (its got the old label). Pours thick black-brown with a lasting, creamy beige head. Relaxed roasted malts in the aroma, with hints of oxidation (just faint suggestions of burnt cardboard creeping in), with pleasant over-arching dark chocolate character. Medium to big sweet flavour, with nicely layered chocolate notes, some baking cocoa, milk chocolate, good ashy roast, some bitter earth, dark fruits, raisins. Full bodied with average carbonation and velvety texture. Finishes with light alcohol warmth, sticky chocolate, bittersweet baking cocoa, burnt sugars, burnt toffee, some old leather, more raisins. Theres some light dryness in the aftertaste that levels things out well. Great beer overall. Good depth, nice balance. Totally solid from beginning to end.
