BBD: July 16th 2016) Poured at fridge temperature (meter says 15 degrees at the surface) into a stemmed burgundy glass reveals a pitch black body with two fingers of tan head that subside after about a minute leaving film and some nice lace. Aroma is of course roasted malt but it does have something a bit unorthodox to it, which might well be earthy notes from the Target hops and fruity esters mentioned in the description. In the mouth the beer strikes you as having an oily texture with a medium body, a soft carbonation and a protracted bitter, roasted finish. As regards the flavour sweetness is not pronounced and seem to be playing a balancing second fiddle to the roastedness and hoppiness of the beer, which are themselves moderated. BB 03.09.2016. black color, small dark coffee-colored head. smells lightly sour, coffee, bitter chocolate, earthy, lactic, licorice, light vanilla, marzipan, toffee. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of milk chocolate, coffee, light vanilla, light roast, light sour, lactic, marzipan. finishes lightly roasted and creamy with notes of vanilla and some milk chocolate. very good one, great balance.

Aroma is dark roast malt, cocoa, some oat. Black in color, some tan head. Taste is full, sweeter than expected, but not at all cloying. Coffee, baker’s chocolate, roast. Mouthfeel is very smooth, from the oats, slight bitterness, but finish is not as dry as expected for a stout. Overall, a very good stout. Bottle from The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a black colour with a foamy mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, oats, some roasted malts, slight caramel, a little coffee and subtle vanilla. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, oats, some roasted malts, slight caramel, a little coffee, dark fruits and subtle soy sauce. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, cocao bitterness in the finish. Roasty malt and some mild coffee... enough mild maltiness to help carry the dark malts.. a bit of dark cherry essence to add to the complexities..
Dry dark bittersweet cocoa... roasty and a good dark profile midpalate shows with some decent sweetness... pretty rich.. finishes with a bit of brownie batter essence and dark fruits.. a bit of spicy hops with warmth, but the hops are definitely subdued for a Pacific stout...
Medium body... not quite thick enough for the style IMO... but carbonation is about right...
Pours black with a large tan head and very good lacing.
