COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex Double Stout.

Pours pitch black with a brown head and chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet and heavy on chocolate and roasted malt, with a warming alcohol taste and a toasty, chocolaty finish.

Scopey (13006) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 3, 2012
Bottle from BrewDog online store. It pours jet black, with a decent tan head. The nose is roasted malt, dark chocolate, a touch of soy sauce, smoke and earth. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, ash, bitter chocolate, dark fruit, earth and some bitterness, with a dry-roasted finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Robust, full-flavour and fairly true to style. A great double/export stout.

This stout seems pretty standard (nothing extraordinarily remarkable), but the bitter aftertaste kind of ruins it for me.

Tap @ Pony w Streets. Fuck you James. Pours black with slightly red hue and tan to brown head. Aroma heavy on coffee and nuts (hazelnut, walnut). Tempted to believe this is the double coffee stout but Im going by what the menu says here. Medium mouthfeel and flavors of nuts, coffee, touch of dark, bitter chocolate. Roasty. Kind of tastes like a brown ale. Good.

Pours a medium molasses in color with a frothy head. Aromas of roasted malts, slight subdued smoke, light toffee, touch of caramel. Flavors of roasted malts, slight subdued smoke, balance of hops in the back, slight nuttyness. Light smoky aftertaste, creamy mouthfeel, slightly sweet. Good solid balanced and tasty stout no exceptions.

Bottle @ beer temple. Pour black, with a brownish hue, and a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Taste is pretty sweet up front, with a bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, with rather flat carb.

Pours black with a 2 finger, creamy mocha head that has great retention and leaves some pretty nice lacing. Aroma is intensely nutty, along with some chocolate, coffee, char, roasted oats, earth, a little leather, licorice, light smoke. Flavor is big on chocolate, some day old coffee, woody notes, a little smoke, lots of roast, light resinous and planty hops, hints of dark fruit and a light, pleasant alcohol presence. Palate is medium bodied, with a creamy entry, off dry, slightly chalky finish and light, but blanketing carbonation. Very nice, the char notes are a bit on the lingering and bitter side, but other than that this is a damn fine beer.

Beautifully integrated foreign stout. Not a rough edge. This is right up there with Sinha in my book. Pity the aroma doesnt promise as much as the rest of the package delivers. Perfect appearance: impenetrable teak colour with a generous souffle head. The aroma is fine but unremarkable - nice roasted malts, Milo and some nose-prickling all-spice. Terrific palate - thick and creamy. In the mouth its bitter and tarry but smooth as George Sanders on the make. Tobacco notes. Nice warming finish. Lovely stuff. (12 fl oz bottle from Down Under Cellars, Leura.)

phredrik (1024) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - MAY 29, 2012
Bottle from Ølbutikken. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma is focused on the malts - coffee, cocoa, chocolate brownie, nice note of pure chocolate malt "straight from the bag", English liquorice, nice and grassy alpha acid hoppiness. Taste is very roasted and bitter - it's obvious that this beer has a high percentage of roasted malts. Lots of coffee, burnt caramel, ashy, tarmac, lots of hoppy bitterness. A bit of malt sweetness and caramel notes to balance out, although the main expression this beer remains roasted and hoppy. Pretty much what a strong American stout should taste like.
