Aroma is chocolate with roasted nuts and light coffee and subtle fruitiness. Appearance is pitch black with a large foam top. Massive chocolate flavor with mixtures of caramel malts, roasted coffee and light hops. Big thick texture with a crisp, creamy aftertaste. Overall, this is a massive brew with mixtures of malts, hops, coffee, caramel, and a large amount of chocolate.I’d give this a C+ rating. McGarnigle (651) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 7, 2011
Four pack. This is the sort of Imperial stout I like. Not syrupy or boozy, but rich and chocolatey with a long aftertaste. More dark chocolate than milk, and with good depth of flavor. No West Coast hops here. bpreo (2840) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - DEC 7, 2011
An amazing Stout from a brewery I have never heard of. I’ll bet a trip to the brewery would be a great adventure. This Stout is strong, tasty, all around near perfect beer. So much flavor! NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Bottle at Kuma’s. Pours deep black with a brown head. Nose is great, lots of cocoa notes, light molasses and a nice fruitiness to this one. Faint herbal and floral hops, fresh and clean roast. On tast, more of that nice chocolate profile, medium full body with a nice bitterness and balanced sweetness overall. Again, nice light fruity profile that really ties it together. One of the best stouts that I’ve had in a long time. pete4999 (1445) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 2, 2011
12 oz bottle, as pictured. Pours a dark black/brown with tan head. Smells and tastes very strongly of coffee. Good mouthfeel, not too over-carbonated, but just enough. Simple flavor, but tasty.

33cl bottle. Black beer with light beige head, creamy, good lacing and perfect lasting. Aroma is to toasted and roasted malts, notes of black coffee are also present. Flavour is roasted, wooden, with hard traces of black coffee. Dense on palate and with an average biterness. Carbonation is soft. Texture is oily. Body is full. Bottle. Completely black, medium brown head that settles quickly, solid lacing. Aroma of coffee with chocolate melted into it, light spice. Taste is thick and chewy tobacco, dark cocoa, espresso left on the burner too long. Delicious. sherm1016 (1274) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 22, 2011
12oz bottle from Pinnochio’s. Pours a jet black color with a big tan head and some lacing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, roasty, coffee, with a nice, smooth, bitter-coffee finish. Very tasty. RyanK (275) - Rhode Island, USA - NOV 19, 2011
Pours black, no light is getting through this beer. Large foamy brown head appears after pouring that takes a few minutes to disappear. Smells sweet, think milk chocolate and coffee, can smell some oats too. I can understand the Old Rasputin comparison. This beer is a lot heavier on the hops, something I expected from Green flash. Beer has notes of dark chocolate and dark coffee, maybe a little oats in their as well. The malt is heavy but it is completely overshadowed by the hops (not immense, but way more than I’m used to in a stout. Finishes dry and bitter with a little malt left on the palate. Not as tasty as some creative stouts I have but very solid and great for a beer drinker who would rather have beer without too many flavors. Complexity is somewhat hidden by hops. Can’t even taste the alcohol content. Worth trying.
