COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bottle, 22oz. It’s a black beer topped by a dense, finger-thick beige to tan head. It’s just beautiful to look at. The aroma has roasted malts and a pleasant chocolate and coffee scent. Not that dark chocolate, milk chocolate is the thing here. The flavor has some sweetness, but meaty chocolate and coffee do most of the job, and there’s also a touch of orange. I would like more hoppy flavors. Full-bodied and warming, quite smooth on the palate. There’s some bitterness in the finish, but also here I would like a little more. A super-drinkable beer with lots of nice flavors. Definitely worth a revisit. 100115

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2010 Pours black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Nose is roasted barley and cocoa powder. Taste is very powdery, light roasted barley, mostly thin cocoa and ever so slight alcohol burn. It’s a tasty stout, but a little thin for a double.

660ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki) - shared by sayravai - thanks!
Lovely sweet roasty toasty aroma, some buttery creaminess and a touch of coconut. Lovely smooth full palate. Great roasty taste - no astringency - so smooth. A touch of coffee. Thanks Seppo - beer of the evening!

A: The beer pours black in color with a rather impressive two fingers of tan head. S: Intense roasted malt and coffee aromas to this. Plenty of dark chocolate aromas with a subtle earthiness. Perhaps a hint of smoke, same thing for licorice. A bit of molasses and toffee for sweetness. T: The roasted malt flavor is quite powerful with a slight bitterness and earthy hop note. Lots of strong coffee and dark chocolate flavors, maybe a bit of licorice and burnt sugar. Subtle sweetness on the mid-palate. M: Medium bodied with smooth, medium carbonation. O: A very tasty beverage. Another solid beer from Green Flash.
