Love this beer! Malty chocolate flavor. Smooth and creamy. Pours dark, as it warms flavors dance!! Bulldogvillan (1) - California, USA - AUG 31, 2013 does not count
I am not a beer aficionado. I actually prefer to drink bourbon. I had this at a restaurant in Irvine along with a prime rib. Very nice pour out of the bottle and great color. Very nice feel. I won’t say I have a sophisticated pallet, but the flavors that jumped out at me were caramel and roasted coffee. I thought it was delicious. liquidhedonism (289) - Beaverton, Oregon, USA - NOV 4, 2014
12 oz bottle. Aroma: boozy, malty, and roasty, with hints of coffee, burned sugar, and vanilla. Taste/Palate: thick, sweet, and crisp throughout; finishes astringent and slightly bitter. Would be perfect if not for the strong astringency. Regardless, this is another amazing beer from one of my favorite breweries! TechMyst (167) - Fox River Grove, Illinois, USA - AUG 22, 2010
No joke this is one of the finest (Double) Stout’s out there. Perfect taste and aroma; drinkability is off the charts. A must try if you can get your hands on it. grimreaperguru (263) - santee, California, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Pours a nice jet black with a dark brown creamy head. The aroma was a robust roasted coffee with some earthy notes to it.The flavor was of creamy dark chocolate with some coffee notes. The body was full with a creamy mouthfeel and a nice bitter aftertaste.Overall the best stout in the U.S.A.!

This is a manly beer. I can feel the hair growing on my chest. Thick and DARK brown, this one has the roasty malty goodness reminiscent of coffee. Pours with a small, but brown head, everything is awesome about this beer. I love it. mkel07 (5963) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - APR 27, 2012
355ml bottle. Perfect beer for this wet cold day. Pours thick and black with a very thick coffee coloured head, looks great in the glass. Carries a lot of weight in the glass which is normally the sign of a decent beer. Lots of chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma and the flavour makes your tastes buds dance for joy. Long warmth on the palate and great to the last drop. LKT1983 (112) - Benton, Kentucky, USA - APR 4, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 11, 2013 Absolutely one of the finest brews Ive had; almost a hybrid of a good black lager & a stout, with enough hop taste to please everyone. A+ all the way. 1st place overall at Beer Night IV on 6/7/13. RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - OCT 26, 2010
Bottle, beermerchants.com. Pours beautifully treacle like, thick and black, with a deep tan head. Gorgeous chocolate flavour, hops play their part and give a great bitterness in the aftertaste. Flavours of cherry, blackcurrant, coffee and treacle come in, this is possibly the best stout I have had - so much flavour - a whopper of a beer and, for me, the stout equivalent of Bear Republic Racer 5. Definitely one of the best tasting stouts around! This brew poured up a near-black body with a one-finger bubbly head with amazing retention and lacing effects on the glass. Aromas of rum, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, dark fruits (plums, figs), roasted malts. Flavors of the same but are so well-balanced. Medium- to Full-bodied, rich and thick, smooth and creamy. Refreshingly clean finish with no harsh aftertastes whatsoever.
