RATINGS: 226   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.21/5   SEASONAL: Summer   EST. CALORIES: 144   ABV: 4.8%
This English-style Summer Ale has a bright golden color as the name indicates. Cascade hops impart a floral aroma that is accented by citrus notes lent from Chinook hops. The hop flavors mingle with with premium pale malted barley to create a flavorful ale that is crisp and refreshing.

Love the brewery, did not love this beer. Hints of floral in this pale and pretty standard hopiness for a pale ale. dissapointed but still would try their brews any day

Pours from the tap a light amber with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and pine that is at a pleasant level. Strong malt character with a thick bread taste accented with caramel. Some light toast as well. Finish is a little sticky and bitter.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($6): Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is floral hops. Taste is kind of watery and the body is a bit thin. There is a minor amount of bitterness. The malt backbone is way too thin in my opinion. It was a pleasant beer to drink and it grew on me a little bit by the time I finished, but from Green Flash I expect more.

I think I was expecting more hop presence in this beer and didn’t get it. Not a terrible brew but nothing that blows you away. A small hint of citrus that goes with a light yellow pour. Small, white head. Aroma is malt dominant. This would be a good beer to have on a hot day.

Tap @ Parkway. Clear, light gold pour with a short, brief white head leaving minimal lace. Nose is light toast and some citrus hops. Light body, moderate carbonation. Body is toast, some pine and citrus hops and some other ’kitchen cleaner’’ flavor that may be from the glass, the keg or the line - not sure. Will revisit soon, but from a different keg. For an XPA, I’d like this to be more sessionable.

On tap at Sidebar in West Chester. Clear golden color, minimal white head. A light smell of hops and citrus. Flavor is also light with chinook hops, touched up with citrus notes. Maybe apple, lemon, or grapefruit. Thin body, some carbonation.

Draught @ Horse Brass Pub. Rated on 11.07.2012
Aroma is fruity with pineapples and resin. Flavour is sweetiwh with pineapples, some stale and a bit metallic savor that turns malty towards the finish. Also some resin. Good, although could be more refreshing.

Very pale clear bright golden color with a very small white head. Pale barley aroma. the flavor is like sweet cereal grains but there are enough hops to make it not offensive. In contrast, its strangely good. It’s very smooth on the palate, has a good beer bite and full body. I hate to love this beer.

As Retro Extra Pale Ale. Tap. Not really what I’ve come to expect from GF - guess it shows how the hop has seduced them. Soft, malty, easy drinking Pale. Straddling the English/American divide. Soft finish.
