Our Belgian Style Dark Ale is inspired by traditional Abbey Ales to deliver the richest of malt flavors but with a slightly elevated hopping and increased complexity given from two different yeast strains. This malt laden ale is designed to satiate and keep your taste buds dancing.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Cloudy brown color; small head. Caramel aroma, it reminds me a Doppelbock, with a hint more of hops. Good body; it has a strong caramel flavor, some yeast, quite stong alcohol feeling. Quite good.

22 oz. bottle, pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of molasses, dark fruits, burnt caramel, and wood. Flavour of roasted malts and burnt caramel malt upfront, with dark fruits, molasses and a woody and burnt finish. Very well-rounded and complex. Delicious.

Golden-brown colour. Dark fruits and olives on the nose with raisins, dark sugars and bubblegum. Thick, sweet sugar taste with light raisin and fruit. Typical oversweet American Belgian attempt..I will never like this type of unbalanced beer.

Dark amber/mahogany pour with an off-white head. Nose of sweet sugar and dark fruits with a lot of caramel, toffee, and raisin. Some alcohol, a bit of spice, and mild chocolate. Tastes a bit hot, but great sugar and fruit flavors. Raisin, figs, and dates along with brown sugar and caramel. Some slight spice, mild roast, and a hint of chocolate.

Bottle @ weekly tasting thanks to Joes. Dark red-brown color, small off - white head. Aroma is malts, sweetish, hops. Taste malts, again lightly sweet, slightly hops, some fruity bitterness. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

bhensonb (15490) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 13, 2008
Bottle from South Bay Drug. Very dark ruby amber color with a decent light tan head. Aromas of roast malt, darkish fruits, and spicey hops. Full bodied with creamy frothy carbonation. Flavors of roast malt, darker fruits, banana?, spice, yeast, and something really different - overall it finishes astringent. No heat.

#15 - Amerikaner Blind-Smagning 12-Jun-2009 hos Papsoe. Bottle. Clear red/brown - offwhite head. Roasted, buttery, wheaty, red berries, caramel, dried fruits, butterscotch, yeasty, spicy, light hoppy, sharpness. Thin body.

Ratman197 (15105) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 1, 2009
Bomber poured a clear brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toffee, banana, burnt carmel, cherry, spice and pepper. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of burnt carmel, toffee, light banana, pepper, light cherry and light spice with a smooth lightly warming bittersweet finish. If this beer tasted as good as it smells it would score a lot higher.
