4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a murky dark brown with a purple hue and a small (less than 1 finger) light brown creamy head that reduced down to a large puddle and medium collar with excellent full sheets of layered lacing.
The aroma was of a roasted dark bread malt and a sweet doughy Belgian yeast with notes of caramel, cinnamon, coriander and dark fruit (figs, dates, berries and overripe plums).
The taste was a bold malty sweet with notes of caramel and dark fruit pretty much throughout, with the finish being a tad yeasty and having a mildly spicy alcohol ending. The flavor lasted and average duration following the swallow with a mild spicy fruity taste left lying on the taste buds along with a slow creeping alcohol warming sensation.
Mouthfeel was just a bit under medium in body with a nice smooth creamy texture and a medium carbonation.
Overall this was a brew with a nice bold fruitiness which melded nicely with the Belgian yeast and the mild spiciness, allowing for a smooth and easy drinkability that hid the high ABV almost totally, except for a slight warming sensation towards the end...
Aroma: figs and plums and dark candy sugar that spells lots of sweetness up front. some bold vinous notes and yeast derived spicy notes.
Appearance: pours brown with a 1/2 " thick tan head with minimal retention. ale is hazy, almost muddy. no lacing was observed in my snifter.
Taste: toffee, dark fruits and the candy sugar is all over this giving it more than medium sweetness. the attempt at balance comes from significant bitterness that produced very assertive astringency. I begin to detect some stale malt notes to show a bit of negative aging.
Palate: this is a full bodied ale, with rich, sticky, almost chewy texture. the carbonation is moderate to high and the astringency that blasts the palate could almost be called intense.
Overall: starting to show signs that its had its better days (maybe a year or year and a half ago). although, I could see lots of people still enjoying this if they are craving for a high abv, complex and full flavored Belgian styled ale that is on the intense side. Dark brown with a foamy light tan head that settles to a thinner lid of creamy bubbles. Some lace. Sweet aromas, with caramel, berries, wild flower honey, light floral hops and hints of yeast. Initial sweetness has some toasted and roasted malts. Middle has a touch of dark berries. Finish is quite bitter and somewhat acidic. Finish is a bit rough, but some bright notes prior to that. 2/13

BB backlog, Pours a brown color with medium head. Smell is raisin, plum, and belgian yeast. All kinds of sweet malt, random spice, and booze in the flavor of this Green Flash. Body is medium. bottle. deep brown with one finger head. this bottle has over three years on it, but it seems like it’s held up ok. malty with dark fruit, particularly raisin and plum, some brown sugar. slightly bitter finish, but it doesn’t seem like the bitterness is hoppy. some mild belgian influence as well. I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

draft that poured a nice big nose of sweet malts and dark fruits all blended nicely together. mild hops on the end. the flavor was very smooth of sweet malts and dark fruits maybe plums and cherries and possibly some raisin. there is a smooth alcohol burn on the end but nothing to really note of...very nice all the way around. Old rating. On tap. Brown-reddish color. Bready, caramel, raisins, some bubblegummy Belgian aspect, some chocolate. Not bad. Not amazing. tekstr1der (491) - New Hampshire, USA - MAR 22, 2015
Dark reddish-brown pour with thin tan head. Smells of raisins, toast, and alcohol. Heavy fruit flavor with some alcohol, but finishes pretty clean. What’s left is a nice malty lingering aftertaste.
