Poured a black color with a tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, with notes of earth and dark chocolate. Flavor is malts, touch of earthy and pine hops, with a touch of chocolate notes. Smooth, and pretty enjoyable. SDalkoholic (2395) - Linda Vista, California, USA - JAN 14, 2012
On tap @ Hamiltion’s: Poured a beautiful jet black color with a thick fluffy topping of head. Aroma is faint but has just enough hops come through to retain my interest. However, the flavor packs a punch and delivers a strong bite of bitter hops that also suggests grapefruit squeezed. There is also a minor taste of black malt that has been roasted perfectly enough to accentuate the addition of hops used. Strykzone (7485) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JAN 3, 2012
Sampled at an esbls tasting. Black. A small tan head. I smell soy, chocolate, and some coffee. This does not work for me. It is an imperial stout cabbage beer. The after taste is slow developing soy sauce. Not a fan. nickd717 (4772) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 3, 2011
Draft at Green Flash. Nearly black in color with a great lasting tan head on top. Very roasty aroma with some piney hop notes. The flavor is also dominated by the roast with some bitter dark chocolate and earthy and piney hops. Medium-full body with a slick mouthfeel. Very nice BlackPale India Ale overall. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2011
On tap at hamiltons... Pours a cola hue and topped with a creamy light beige head... Piney roast and chocolate notesthat pair with a lighter subordinate citrusy green hop feel... Flavors are more roasty with chocolate to be followed up with a lighter sense of green citrusy hops. Medium mouthfeel that finishes with a chalky bent. Good consistency but lacking in the hoppiness from a flavor point of view.

In taster at Churchills. Looks black with tan head. Smells of hops. Tastes of hop and relatively decent black malts but not a big backing. Decent bitter. Overall 7 of 10. JohnnyJ (5570) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Draft. Dark brown, almost black with light tan head. Pretty heavily roasted (to much), some burnt coffee, sharp bitter hops, and grapefruit. Meh daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 11, 2011
Dark pour, creamy head. Spicy hops, roast aroma. Hops, light toast. Not amazing. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 24, 2011
On tap at the new brewery. Pours with a quite near black body with a lasting tan head with good lace. Aromas are roasty with some floral and citrus notes. Cocoa, roast and earth. A bit on the roasty side in the aroma. Flavors are a bit too roasty for my tastes, but some playful esters and basic citrus hops are a nice counter balance. Good flavors overall with some resiny hops. Medium to lively bubbles. Dry, roast linger. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Finally after 4 hours of waiting next to this gross couple that won’t stop making out or crowding me, I have this beer on cask! Black with a fizzy off white head. Big earthy citrus hops aroma and taste wiu a tart yet bitter finish. I want something better after said gross couple.
