My 2,000th Rate. Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Deep dark brown pour with a small tan head. Citrus hop and dark malts protruded from the beak. Flavour-wise there were notes of pine, chocolate, malts, orange and booze. Decent balance struck. Full bodied and smooth mouthfeel. Plenty to like here and a very solid Black IPA. I’m rarely disappointed in the output from this brewery and this is no exception. Cheers! dwyerpg (6188) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - NOV 10, 2014
This is a pretty solid black IPA, though it’s very roasty. Enough hops with a fairly thick body. Good stuff. Ferris (15471) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 23, 2014
Bottle - Piney hops and some light roast. Jet black with a nice rich beige head. Grapefruit, pine and burnt toast. With the big flavors this is surprisingly well balanced and subdued. Very nicely done. spacecube (1723) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2014
Bottle, pours black with an off-white head. Caramel malt, roasted pine, floral and citrus notes. Balanced long bitterness throughout. light sweetness, very bitter, light body, slick feel, lively. A really good black IPA BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - OCT 21, 2014
Bottle at home. Pours very dark brown with one finger of tan head. Aroma is slightly roasty pine and slight citrus hoppiness. Flavor follows with slight caramel. Medium bodied. Finishes dry and bitter. Very smooth beer. I'm not a fan of the style but this is a good one.

pours unclear dark brown, red hue, with a nice light beige head, reviving and leaving very nice lacing. mint and tangerine skin, earl grey tea leaves, chocolate-coated fresh roasted coffee beans, luscious chocolate, some sweetness - lactose, very ncie roasted profile, touch of tropical notes. light carbonation, medium body - oily, almost balanced resinous-citrusy finish. just a tad heavy but very tasty. angel77 (3392) - oviedo, SPAIN - SEP 19, 2014
Good retention and medium lacing. Smells of molasses, roasted caramel and floral. Tastes of roasted malts, floral and bitter hop resin. Bitter aftertaste.

Creamy head, hoppy aroma. First it hits you with a coffee note then it goes along with a classic citrussy taste. Moderate sweetness, medium biterness. Creamier than Raven from Thornbridge which is good. This is how black ipa should be done. Very good! slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 29, 2014
Re-he-Healy loved the hop combo used here, as well as the Carmel malt atop the black roasted and chocolate. Hop leaning, which is just fine by me, and the most grapefruity citric yummy black ipa I’ve tried in some time."
