This style - black IPA almost always gets me disappointed. no exceptions with this. Roasted malts with quite intese unbalanced hops, some citrus fruitiness that cant make good pleasant combo for me. Mostly sweet with moderate bitter finish.
Decent brew, but not my style rader58 (908) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - JUN 9, 2014
22oz bottle. Pours dark cola color. Aroma of floral, pine, citrus, caramel. Flavor is pine, citrus, earth, floral. Has a back and forth with differing hops of piney and citrus, but with a much higher malt profile than I expected. Quite nice. Ungstrup (37569) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2014
Bottled. A red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of hops, citrus fruits, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, and citrusy hops, leading to a bitter finish. yespr (45426) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2014
1 pt 6 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a huge off white head. Aroma is roasted dark malty, breadish and herbal. Bitter, dark malty and roasted. Herbal and pine hoppy finish. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUN 7, 2014
Bottle:   Moderate Black IPA.   Very soft roast, moreso a charred like IPA.   Campfire from start to finish.   Otherwise very pithy.   A little dry, could use a touch of sweetness.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A bit stale on the finish.   Seems very pedestrian... but nothing really off.

Aroma: The nose is pretty much on-style, with the hops over roast from a component standpoint
Appearance: This beer pours a dark brown with a light brown head and heavy lace
Flavor: The taste has a nice hop bitterness up-front, with a more roasted malt finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a smooth mouthfeel, and it has a dry/roasty finish to it
I thought this was a really nice example of a Black IPA. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to try all of the Hop Odyssey beers thus far, but I have enjoyed the one’s I have tried, and I would love to try to rest.
Izskats labs, aromāts pavājš. Garša- laba, bet neizteikmīga. Šajā gadījumā- vai nu ipa vai tumšais gribētos atdalīt. IPA apiņi ir ok, bet vajadzētu tumšā alus apiņus. blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 29, 2014
[Bottle (660ml)] Pours a very dark amber-brown with a large lasting frothy beige head and some lacing on the glass. Aroma is your standard, but solid, Black IPA: Toasted malt and leafy hops along with a hint of coffee -- simple but nice. Flavour’s the same, toasted malt and leafy hops along with a semi-long moderate bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Well done and enjoyable. Darwenus (1135) - Virginia, USA - MAY 25, 2014
This is a pretty good black IPA. It pours dark black, it has a ton of head and lots of lace. The aroma is all floral hops. The flavor is fairly standard for a black IPA... rich malt and strong, citrus hops. The finish is smokey but bright. Not as good as Wookey Jack, Sublimely Self Righteous, or Dubhe, but still pretty good. Theydon_Bois (19493) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2014
