Awesome beer. Glass at Belmont. Pours an almost totally black color with a medium beige head. A big dank fruity hop nose with some roast. The flavor is wonderful: big sweet chocolate and ash, but dominant fruity hops, very dark, low bitterness, big sweet citrus. Funky weed. Very drinkable. Love me some CDA. 3fourths (9349) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 26, 2014
Burnt pineapple, chocolate / roast malt, pine sap, spruce needles, sawdust shavings, chocolate grapefruit bubblegum. Medium-full body, semi-sweet, strongly hoppy, not oppressively bitter. Soft body, a little smoke-y, a little savory. One of the better examples of a hoppy stout. At the same time it smells like a dull bandsaw burning pine in 7th grade shop class. From bottle.

pours unclear dark brown, red hue, with a nice light beige head, reviving and leaving very nice lacing. mint and tangerine skin, earl grey tea leaves, chocolate-coated fresh roasted coffee beans, luscious chocolate, some sweetness - lactose, very ncie roasted profile, touch of tropical notes. light carbonation, medium body - oily, almost balanced resinous-citrusy finish. just a tad heavy but very tasty. solidfunk (9018) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JUN 12, 2014
Roasty with some citrus. Pours very dark brown with good head and lacing. Finishes with light bitterness and some citrus sourness, acidity. Good. Tap at Churchkey.

Dark in the glass with a very nice beige head. The nose is floral and some kind of dark. The beer starts intense floral hopped, very nice with hints of pine and resin. In the mainpart there comes the roasted aroma, espresso, roasted bread. This mix of aroma is great. In the aftertaste there is a nice bitter note, which adds to the slightly sweet body a nice counterpart. The aftertaste is long - very floral with nice roasted aroma together with a nice moderate bitterness. And at 7.2% still highly drinkable.
A very great Black IPA! --> 14/13/14/15
22oz bomber pours with a nice dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up modest yet playful juicy hops mixing with dark roasted malts and chocolate brownie. Yes! Smells great. The taste starts with dark roasted malts to some burnt malts that are blended with a modest yet nicely balanced array of citrus hops and spicy dank onion like hoppiness. This is all going so well together as some chocolate surfaces into the finish. This isn’t a huge rich Black IPA but it has plenty of flavor and hop to malty balance. Small pour from a bottle. Pours clear black with a medium tan head and great lacing. Aroma is strong pine, dank wet leaves, perhaps a touch of roast. Medium sweet, light bitter, a lot of pine, some citrus, some malty notes, but not a lot of, well, black in this one; very light roasty notes are in there, but you have to be looking for them to notice.
