With Z, pours pitch black with a nice Java colored head, could easily be mistaken for a stout . Nose is sweet caramel and malt with pine and hops mixing in nicely . Taste is bitter chocolate malt with nice pine and resin . Finishes on the same tasting notes with a moderately long finish . Pours pitch black and opaque with a one finger beige head that has good retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Streaks of splotchy lacing left behind.
The aroma has a subtle toasted malt presence along with a nice dank, floral hop character. Smells similar to a regular west coast ipa but with a touch of robust malt. Very floral, citrus-y and tropical smelling with resinous, grassy pine and dark roast. Hints of grapefruit, orange peel and pineapple followed by grass, pine sap, oatmeal, toast, dark fruit and lightly roasted coffee bean.
Unfortunately, it’s not as complex as the nose suggests. Lots of dry bitterness but this comes more from slightly acrid and roasted dark malt. Tropical/citrus notes from the aroma aren’t really showing up on the palate. Sticky and resinous hops with grassy pine needle followed roasted chocolate malt, oatmeal, coffee bean and burnt toast. Negra casi opaca. Minimamente rojiza al trasluz. Abundante espuma manchada. Aroma eminentemente lupulado, herbal, pino y también notas ahumadas. En boca, textura suave y gas contenido. Compleja. Cuerpo. Habanero (4848) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK, DENMARK - APR 4, 2015
Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, citrus, caramel, floral hops and resin. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and solid bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Black IPA, sir__v (2630) - FRANCE - MAR 30, 2015
