9/20/2013: Green Flash Citra Session IPA... This beer is exactly everything I hate - Citra hops! This beer has a soft toffee malt base and does what it should which is showcase the hops. However, I just don’t like Citra hops AT ALL. I love hops with pine and resin characteristics and those with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, but I just don’t care for those flavors together along with a distinct MELON flavor as well. Everything together comes across as muddled to me and on top of that, Citra hops just seem to impart a soft and fuzzy kind of bitterness. It’s hard to explain. I know that I’m probably the only one who doesn’t like Citra hops, but that’s okay. Although this is a well-made, well-balalnced IPA, I just can’t get my tastebuds to accept this particular hop. I was hoping that a beer from Green Flash could do it, but instead this one just confirmed my dislike. Draught sample(s) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #118 for this beer.
Tap at cock and bull, sarasota. Dark golden color, white head. Aroma has malts and lots of hops, citrus notes. Light malty body, some soapy notes, dry hoppy end. Little bit weird some how. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 1, 2016
Bottle:   Golden, moderate foamy white head, soft carbonation, nice lacing.   Soft Citra hop nose.   A little leafy, some very minor citrus peel.   Very soft.   Clean, moderate body and mouthfeel.   Pretty crisp, clean, soft flavors.   Session IPA is right.   A nice example of one, flavorful without being too bitter. alexsdad06 (10476) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - SEP 11, 2016
Draft locally from notes. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some nice citrus and tropical fruits character, pale malts, grass, light herbal notes, mild to moderate bitterness, decent for a session ipa. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2016
Pours a cloudy golden yellow. Aromas of citrus and a little of the tropics. Smooth easy drinking with flavors of citrus, grass, and yeast. hackobock (4045) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 6, 2016

Clear pale amber with a small creamy white head. Aroma is pine, orange, grapefruit, resin, some grass and biscuits. Taste is light sweet with biscuit, resin and hints of peach, grassy piney, dry, lasting bitter finish with just a slight sweetness. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation.
Great session IPA, slightly on the thin watery side in the finish.
(Draught) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, lemon, and caramel. Flavor of grass, grapefruit, orange, florals, caramel, and tangerine with a dry, moderately bitter finish. jdjuice (500) - Kumamoto, JAPAN - JAN 29, 2016
Pours pale gold with white head, nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, citrus, mangos, tropical fruits. Flavors are much of the same, very fruity, with a pretty solid bitterness that lingers nicely and makes it a very good thirst quencher. A little more body than I was expecting at this ABV. Quite good. fonefan (49554) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JAN 27, 2016

[ As Green Flash Citra Session IPA ].
Clear medium yellow orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit - fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, citrus, fruity, lemon notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
a zesty enterprise .. . citra, grass, cut rinds .. overly sweet .. orange amber .. solid foam .. a good session, quaffable pint .. . . I was so relieved that there were only five images. Thought sure I’d eventually see a picture of me. UXO (1896) - CANADA - JAN 24, 2016
Appearance: hazy pale gold with one finger of ivory head, good retention and patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: citrus rind, tropical fruit, resin, bready malt, lightly dank and/or catty. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry finish. (4/5)
Bearing in mind that this is intended to be a low ABV sessionable ale, it’s pretty good. That said, it’s a bit thin in the mouth and the flavours just don’t seem to pop, though it doesn’t seem to have been deeply harmed by being a bit past its best-by. And, as I’ve usually found to be the case with single-hop ales, the flavours seem to lack dimension. On the up side, the Citra doesn’t come through as offensively catty the way it sometimes can, though there is a not-unpleasant suggestion of that in there, particularly as it warms. (14/20)
