Drank it from a mason jar. Very little head upon receiving it, so I can't comment on that. Aesthetically, it's a dreamy dark red with less than average carbonation, but it's certainly not flat.
Just by the color, you can tell it's a malty beer, and the smell gives off that vibe. The nose is complimented by spicy notes alongside the grapefruit and pine. A really pleasant aroma.
Flavor is a mix between an Imperial IPA and an American Strong Ale. I catch the rye with every sip, but the malt gives balances the hops nicely. It's bitter, spicy, fruity, and dry on the finish. Thankfully the ABV is right where it needs to be to compliment all the flavors and make the experience memorable.
Outstanding beer... Another excellent offering from Green Flash and my new favorite Rye Pale Ale.

pours a reddish copper with a one finger off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of spicy rye, resinous pine, citrus, freshly baked sourdough bread, and caramel. Taste is pine citrus (mainly grapefruit), fresh sourdough bread, and sweet malts. Has a medium-full body with a super creamy mouthfeel, and a bitter, long finish. Overall, a very nice rye IPA. 574deadzone (1419) - North Central, Indiana, USA - AUG 27, 2013
On tap. Pours a hazed amber-orange with thinner khaki head that leaves a thick wall of intricate lace behind. Nose involves lots of spicy and herbal hops, some caramel and toffee, orange citrus, some rustic rye and dusty yeast. Somewhat sweet, nicely bitter. Full bodied, oily, creamy, softer action, with a spicy rye finish. Really nice brew, big but not overly so, with lots of fun hop and rye elements and a good malt backbone. Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear red color with a thin frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of spicy, resin hops, berries, rye, toffee malts. The taste is herbal, resin hops, strong rye, fruity notes and toffee malts. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice beer. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Tap at Tyler’s Durham. Perfect after-work pint. Deep reddish, sticky off white lace, small head that lasts. Nose of rye, tropical fruits, citrus, light resin, caramel malts. Flavor is similar--good amount of bitterness, more rye, pithy citrus, pretty nice balance, light booze but overall well hidden. This is kinda what I wish arrogant bastard tasted more like, but I know it’s clearly supposed to be a different style of beer. Like a boss.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2014 On draft at Hollingshead Deli. Pours a beautifully deep reddish-pinkish-brownish color with a lasting light tan head. Gorgeous looking beer. Aroma is a delightful mix of rye, citrusy, tropical fruit hoppiness, with a small hint of caramel. Taste is a good amount of bitterness and tropical fruit sweetness, with some rye shining through, but not overpowering. Well carbonated with a medium body and a lingering bitterness and sweetness. Definitely one of my new favorites. Well played Green Flash. You continue to impress. Evolutionary (505) - Ohio, USA - SEP 20, 2014
Tap at mellow mushroom. Pour is deep amber with lingering froth head. Nose is weak a bit. Medium acrid feel up front an rye feel thick throughout. Smooth at times but alcohol cuts thru at other times. rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Draft at Proof. Amber color pour with a white head. Massive citrus and piney hop aroma with spicy and caramel malts. Bready rye grains, caramel sweetness flavor with big tropical, resiny and piney hops. Creamy, smooth body with a lengthy bitter end. Damn fine beer. SSSteve (4006) - - APR 18, 2014

On tap at choice city. Pours a clear amber with great off white head. Aroma is caramel, some hops, earthiness, toast. Flavor is hoppy, but a big sweet malty character, finishing with a bitter, spicy rye flavor. Full bodied, and hides its booze quite well
