COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, 3 months old. Hmm... have I been recently spoiled by really freaking fresh DIPAs? I am not feeling this at all. Metallic, bitter, and overly malty. Some pepper and resin but only sweet orange citrus and orange peel oil. Not sure I want to finish this right now. I’m being fairly kind to it in my scores to give it the benefit of the doubt... maybe a bad batch?

Medium gold, thin but stesdyoff white head. Nose is floral and woody hops. Bitter. Middle is warm, woody, creamy malt, some mango and papaya. Finish shows some alcohol and nice mediym ling cedar finish.

A: Light clear Orange with a small white head. N: Citrus, dank notes. T: Finishes dry and not very malty for a high-gravity IPA, making it very crisp and refreshing. Leafy green bitterness. Orange juice, earthy notes, mint. Properly bitter. Grapefruit. P: Thin O: Great, complex IPA. Deceptively drinkable.

660ml bottle: Pours a hazy golden with white head. Peppery notes with spicy hop aroma. High bitterness, medium bodied, medium carbonation. Beer finishes dry. Some good caramel flavours come through together with herby notes. Overall a refreshing beer.

650mL bottle from Beer Love online. BB 09MAY17 - whoops Hazy orange gold beer, decent size dense white head. Aroma not as intense as expected (can forgive that with age) - citrus rind, pine sap, toasty malt, not as malty as the standard IPA seemingly. Full body, resiny, big but that booze is well tempered. Enjoyable flavours of toasty biscuity malt, sweet throughout really with hops making the balance providing lingering lime & grapefruit, green pine needle, unripe peach, and a healthy hit of bitterness. Yeah, it’s a bit long in the tooth but retains plenty of character.

Bomber, Kroger, Rio Hill. Golden with a small white head. Aroma of pine, oregano, citrus. Flavor is heavily tropical fruit up front. Cantaloupe, pine, grapefruit. Juicy up front... lingering cantaloupe flavor closes it out along with pine.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2017 Quite drinkable and didn’t taste at all like 9% though I did drink an 8% IPA before it. However the 8% tasted stronger! Straw coloured and tropical. Not very fizzy but enjoyable. 2nd try it tasted a little too boozy and heavy with not enough hops to cover.

Brilliant white rocky head stayed well on a dark gold coloured, lightly effervescent body. Malt & sweet citrus aroma. Thick & almost chewy on the palate. Prickly with a sharp clean aft. Malty to the fore with a pine, citrus & a very hoppy flow over the tongue. On the back there’s a long bitter finish. Very nice indeed

It pours golden with a moderate slightly off white head. It does leave a quite a bit of lacing behind. The initial aroma is stone fruit with a caramel background to it. The stone fruit is most favorable towards peach. Present are also citrus and a bit of floral. The flavor has a strong hop bitterness highlighted by peach and floral elements. There is also a caramel backbone to it as well. It has a moderate feel to it with moderately high hop bitterness that lingers well into the finish. Overall, this is a quality imperial IPA that is not over done with the bitterness, but does provide a good bitter bite to it.
