Pours reddish-brown and cloudy with a medium tan head. Aroma is a beautiful blend of leathery malts and pungent pine. The malts are the stars of this one with choco-malto-old-leathery goodness. Then come the hops in all of their bitter glory. They tang up the former flavors with their heavy pine in a very black IPA kinda way and their intrusion lingers to eternity....

12oz bottle on 15-Dec-2015, purchased at De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Hazy dark amber colour. Medium body and soft carbonation. Aroma of tropical fruit, pine and alcohol. Bitter flavour upfront. Rye and alcohol burn thereafter. Grapefruit, sweet malt, resin and heavily hopped. Bittersweet spicy finish.

Bottle at rebro lcafe: Aroma is deep caramel and malt with a fair share of pine and resin. Taste is chewy and mid-spicey rye, grapefruit peels and a deep sweet fruity sensation. Good solid bitterness in the end with some alcohol warmth.

The body of the beer was a deep reddish shade of amber. The color was very attractive, but the appearance was muddied a bit by the cloudiness typical of beers with a high proportion of rye grains. The head formation was two fingers thick, creamy, and very stable. The aroma was heavenly as the grapefruit and pine from the hops mingled with the spice from the rye. The taste delivered a citric and earthy hop assault, which was followed by an herbal flavor and berry like sweetness, that slowly gave way to a dry, toasty, grainy finish with a touch of spice. The aftertaste was spicy and dry. The beer felt substantial across the palette, and felt like it possessed a body similar to a barleywine. I love this bold rye showcase.

On draft at Ulysses. Pour was orangey red, decent head. Aroma of caramel and grapefruits. Flavor followed, a bit heavy on the caramel malts, overwhelmed the rye spiciness and even the hop bitterness to some extent. Some pine and resinous elements in the flavor that I didnt pick up in the aroma. Mouthfeel on par for the style, carbonation a tad light. Just needed to be more lively, malts killed what had great potential.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Expiration date of 26 Nov 15. Attractive amber pour with a long lasting off-white head. Good clarity Aroma brings out a roasted malt character with floral and pine hops to enhance it. Body is medium. An odd sort of astringent character in the flavor along with the caramel malt sweetness and lingering hop bitterness at the end. e taste feels a tad astringent but I get a decent malt character and a forward floral hop character that lingers briefly. Tastes like mulch at the end.

Green Flash has something special going with many of their beers. Road Warrior is a great rye IPA. Its a little heavier tasting than your typical IIPA... but very drinkable. A great beer from start to finish. A very enjoyable well crafted brew.

Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper body with a small fizzy beige head that quickly vanished. The nose is a great mix of citrusy hops and spicy rye, both equally potent. Some lesser breadiness and caramel notes. The flavor is decently spicy from the rye, but theres way too much caramel sweetness under the rye and bitter hops. The sweetness really takes over towards the finish. Medium bodied, rather sturdy, with fizzy carbonation. This one had potential for me, but the heavy sweetness made it fall short for me. On the whole its still pretty good.
