Rather crummy looking beer surprisingly. Like filtered clay mud. Frothy white head that dissolves to a thinner film. Nose is aromatic and full of piney hops in ture West Coast IPA style.
Nice balance for an over-hopped IPA. Hops it the front of the tongue like nails being driven into each taste bud. But then there is a nice malt base that follows quickly to keep it all in control. Heavy on the grapefruit citrus. Medium body that seems both thicker at the sip and lighter at the finish thanks to the hops. Just a tad dry with the finish too. Really enjoying my way through the glass. theisti (4203) - Kansas, USA - JUL 18, 2007
12 oz bottle mail ordered from South Bay in Imperial Beach, CA. Pour is minimally cloudy orange gold with a nice, big off white - tan head. A few floaties, based on the aroma, I assume these are pieces of hops! Aroma is a really nice grapefruit citrus hop. Even the bottle cap smelled like hops! Taste is big hops, very citric, oranges, pine cones, flower petals and very resiny. Medium body, some malt presence towards the end, but the story with this one throughout is the hops. Finish is dry and crisp. I liked this one, but it is most certainly a West Coast IPA. I guess its not just a clever name. alexsdad06 (10784) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 17, 2007
12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a medium beige head that is mostly lasting. Light lacing. The aroma is predominately pine and resin hops with a bit of citrus in the background. The flavor is an explosion of different hops: pine, resin, grapefruit, and grass. There is enough malt presence to balance things nicely. The mouthfeel is medium-full and goes down pretty smooth. Yet another very good IPA that I have no access to on a regular basis. redave (166) - squaw valley, California, USA - JUL 10, 2007
Man what a beer!
This is going to be a regular, and thanks to our BevMo, keeping it in stock! Nice.
Just a titch darker than my ideal India Pale Ale.
But... What an Aroma! Excellent! Very nice. What an IPA should be. All the great IPA hops I expect from a great one.
Very Nice lacing all the way down. Head at least covers the top at all times.
Tastes almost a good as the aroma. Great aftertaste, some malt, maybe a smidgens shy on the mouth-feel, but then again, maybe not.
After scoring a partial six-pack in the Tustin area, I was so pleased to see in Fresno. Yeah

12 oz bottle. Poured a hazy copper/brown with a large white frothy head and lots of floating particles, is this a bottle conditioned/unfiltered IPA? Aroma is awesome with tons of fresh piney hops and a sweet caramel malt background. Medium mouthfeel with some nice lively carbonation. Flavor is all about the hops. This is one of the hoppiest IPAs I have ever had. It almost seems like a DIPA, good stuff.

Bottle from Stockertown Dist, PA. The hoppiness is so evident that I feel like I can taste the leaves put in the wort. Rather than use the usual grapefruit citrus IPA descriptors, I will say this is a very clean beer with lots of stickiness and an almost uh how do I say it: marijuana (hemp?) like quality of pine resin? If I smoked, this would pair quite nicely. The palate has a nice medium dry quality which makes it easy to drink. Gregis (1291) - Stilwell, Kansas, USA - JUL 7, 2007
Bottle shared by mreusch at the csbosox tasting 7/3. Pours a dark, cloudy amber with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is a strong sweet caramel along with citrus and pine hops. Smells unusually sweet for an IPA. Medium-bodied, lively and dry. The flavor runs with grassy, citrus hops and a sweet caramel backing. I really enjoyed this beer but found it just a bit on the sweet side for my IPA tastes. I’ll have to snag another bottle when I can to see if perhaps my tongue was confused by home brew clone that I was tasting with it side-by-side. Thanks again, Matt! memmling (8) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 6, 2007 does not count
very zesty start and sort of old-cabin weed finish. i found this guy pretty filling overall, but after i finished i wanted another. mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - JUL 4, 2007
Bottle. Amber orange in color with a nice off white head. Hoppy citrus aroma. Grapefruit orange and pine hop notes. Sweet malty and hoppy flavor. Floral notes. The hop flavors linger throughout the whole beer. Finish is nice and bitter. Nice west coast IPA. Well balanced with sweet malts and hops. Full bodied beer. Very nice. UPDATED: JUL 27, 2007 Pours medium dark amber, forms an off white foamy head. Aroma is of grapefruits, pines, malts. Flavor is full bodied, malted pines, grapefruit and hops resonate through this lovely west coast IPA. Me want more! (Thanks Steve)
