Editor’s Note: If you had the 8.1% abv version marketed since 2014 as a Double India Pale Ale, this is the wrong beer page. Please rate under Green Flash West Coast IPA (2014 -).

This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma.

HopBackDoc (474) - Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 24, 2007
Pours a copper color with thin head and good lacing. Aroma is a good dose of floral and pine hops. Flavor was well balanced blend of bitter, citrus, grassy hops backed up by some sweet malts. Well done West Coast style IPA. Wish it was more available here in PA.

Bottle. Piney, hoppy aroma. Poured deep copper with thick white lasting head. Much lacing. Full rich body with maybe a little too much hoppiness. Full finish with all over the tongue bitterness.

Pours a cloudy deep orangy amber with a head full of big bubbles that leaves some sticky lacing as it recedes. Arome is citrusy hops, maybe a little sweet carmelly malts underneath. Flavor is nice; more balanced than I expected, with a solid sweet carmel malt background and plenty of bitter and dry, citrusy hops. Finishes bitter. Mouthfeel is medium, sticky and smooth, with moderate carbonation. Solid, tasty, hoppy IPA.

KingpinIPA (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 17, 2007
Bottle via JB175. Amber color. Smell of malt, citrus, pine, caramel, hops, flowers and some spice. Taste of grapefruit, appricots, malt, hops, flowers, orange zest, caramel, spice and a great bitterness. Very good IPA!

Draft: Pours a coppery amber color with a 1 finger white head. Tons of hoppy herbal and quite hemp like hop aroma. Serious dry hopping going on. Flavor is moderately malty and quite bitter. Similar somewhat earthy rich bitterness and tons of again hemp like flavor. Tons of hops hitting on all fronts. The hoppiest non imperial ipa i have had, on par with Hopsickle. Almost too much.

mreusch (851) - Olathe, Kansas, USA - JUN 14, 2007
Bottle, courtesy of adrian910ss, pours a cloudy golden orange with an ample off-white head, good lacing. Nice aroma of grapefruit, orange peel, and light floral. Taste is a nice hops bite with a slightly distracting lingering citrus flavor that turns a little sour. Not a bad IPA, but a little better on the aroma than taste.

marcus (10227) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 13, 2007
On tap at Toronado. This copper ale poured with a thin off-white head. There was an interesting hop bitterness made complex through the use of multiple premium hops. Flavor sticks to the tongue until the next sip.

Tasted at Green Flash. Orange amber with creamy off-white head. Citrus and hop aroma. Good fruit and pine taste with a strong bitter finish.

Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2007
Big hoppy West Coast IPA-clean hops, not too sweet or sticky smelling. Taste-medium bitter, low alcohol, low sweetness (!!!). Body-honey with a medium ring of bubbles. Excellently crafted-not overly bitter or sweet. All the IPA flavors stick around and linger perfectly. Damn fine IPA.

Bottle- centennial explosion. Should be called hop juice because the presence is huge. And not in a wussy cascade way. This is high alpha hop stuff, with serious bitterness. Wished I had more of this back home.
