Editor’s Note: If you had the 8.1% abv version marketed since 2014 as a Double India Pale Ale, this is the wrong beer page. Please rate under Green Flash West Coast IPA (2014 -).

This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma.

This was a stunningly impressive beer that I really, really enjoyed. While it was admittedly a bit off-balance between the hops and malt, it was a hop bomb and I loved it. Big floral hop aroma, fresh juicy grapefruit rinds with a subtle piney kick to it. Appearance was clear, dark amber with a thick off-white head. Mouthfeel was unfortunately a bit on the thin side of things, but still pleasant enough. Over in the flavor department it was unadulterated hops. Big, fresh and clean hops. Grapefruity with enough pine character to notice. The malts take a backseat to the hops on this beer, and for me that was okay. A lingering bitter finish, and I was happy to have gotten this. Might just be one of my favorite IPA’s.

Pours nice clean golden color, with a medium head. Fresh cut hops abundant in the aroma, while not overpowering but pretty floral. Has a nicely balanced flavor of pine sap from the hops and light malts. Finishes crisp on the palate, very refreshing. This is your standard San Diego/West Coast Style IPA.

Thanks to Dirty_Martini for sending this out. Copper color with a thin head. Very strong orange aroma. The taste is exclusively hops. Orange, raw hop, citrus and a bit of pine. Lovely.

Holy grapefruits. The head started off just about perfect and sets its self on a hazy amber. Not much after the pour the head just kinda dropped off the face of the planet. Stays hazy throughout the short life (drank it fast). Again, strong grapefruit.

Pours an orange/amber. Aroma was intensely hoppy in my opinion, lots of pine, some grapefruit and butter. Malt is there , but this is not one of the maltier IPAs I’ve had. Taste was hops from the start till the end, with lots of grapefruit, pine, and a strong bitterness with no charred or off elements. Biscuit and butter taste to the malt helped set the stage

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy amber with a bit too much sediment for my taste (though this is probably my fault for not letting the bottle settle long enough after shipment) and a light head. Pine and light citrus peal are apparent in the aroma with a biscuit like malt presence. Flavor is nice and bitter! Very spruce sap like with citrus peal hints. There is a good malt presence holding all those hops up but it really pales next to the level of hop power. Very light hint of sweetness. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

From a 12-oz bottle shared by the Cellars Wine & Spirits gang, pours a copper orange brew with a thick creamy white head. Nice lacing. Aroma has heavy citrus, grapefruit, grass, and pine hops. Flavor is oily, medium body with a dry grapefruit aftertaste. Everything one would expect in a decent IPA.

Bottled. Pour is an orangey copper, with a nice, white head. The nose is grapefruit, resin, and sour. The flavor is citrus, hops, and alcohol with a huge hoppy finish. I wish I could get this at home!

I was pretty impressed with the strength of this non-imperial IPA. Very delightful.
