Enjoyed on tap at the Kansas City Barbecue in San Diego, where the piano scene from Top Gun was filmed. Show me the way home, honey! Pours a beautiful, perfectly clear copper with a 1.5 finger off-white head that’s foamy, dense, and recedes slowly, leaving a thick filmy top layer and sticky sheets of lace. Citrus and sweetness in the nose. Lots of lime, orange, mango, pine. Not much malt, but who needs it? In the flavor, bitter grapefruit peel mixes with orange juice, nice light tropical fruits, lemon, lime, a subtle dank character and mint. Light pale backbone, maybe some honey. Prickly medium carbonation and a smooth medium body. Nice fullness. Heavily bitter, but not too bad. An aptly-named effort from Green Flash, for the flavors of this beer epitomize to me the West Coast IPA. Lovely. shakespeare33 (203) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 21, 2015
This was one of my fav IPAs while still living in San Diego (06 to10).. Sad to see it retired. Thought I had rated it several times but I guess somehow it slipped through the cracks. Anyway, simply stated this IPA is one of the epitomes of San Diego style.. zesty, powerful but also real laid back.. This was a regular order for me from draft houses.. Oh well.. looking forward to trying the next in line... nihtila (3865) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 14, 2015
6.4.2014. Hazy orange, thick lasting head. Fresh aroma, grapefruit. Taste is citrus, dryish bitter, maybe a bit too dry for my taste. Good US IPA anyway. Hanan (86) - NW Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 11, 2015
Top of the line IPA. Ben a favorite for 3 years now solid. Pisses me off that it’s sold in a 4 pack. It’s good but doesn’t need to be priced so much higher than something like a Stone IPA. If they sold this as a 6r or in a case for a reasonable price I’d buy a lot more. Nevertheless, very pleasantly piney, beautifully hopped, and a bit more on the dry hopped end. *Old rating from 2012. The beer starts fruity and smooth, fresh, but way too sweetish. Nice, fruity-floral, sweet.

Great full flavored IPA - great appearance, very piney and hoppy but fullness smooths it out a bit. Very much in the Sierra Nevada Torpedo range and that is a much more affordable alternative. Abrakarl (436) - SWEDEN - FEB 7, 2015
Nice tropical beer with plenty of hops. Typically the aroma is better than the bitter taste. George999 (463) - Colorado, USA - JAN 19, 2015
Pour from bottle is auburn in color, aroma is floral and hoppy, taste is initially bitter slightly sweet on the front of the tongue, finish is bitter, solid IPA Iznogud (4070) - CROATIA - DEC 17, 2014
Bottle, 355 ml from Za Popent, Ljubljana, shared with JFK. Pours cloudy dark orange with off-white head. Very hoppy, citrus, floral, pine aroma. Sweetish malty, caramel with great hoppy bitterness. Full bodied. Very balanced. Was really impressed by this brew, for me this one has it all. RickReallyBrew (105) - Franktown, Colorado, USA - NOV 12, 2014
Last night I had an Avery Myrcenery Ale from CO. It was as good as it gets for an IPA. Well, I have to report that this brew is equally delicious and satisfying. And I’m not easily pleased. Thus beer has a wonderful hop nose, balanced malt and hop bittering flavor. A cornucopia of IPA goodness!
