Cask Handpump at the Milds, Stouts, Porters & Strong Ales weekend Prince Of Wales, Foxfield 06/10/2007
Strong in alcohol with a slightly fruity aroma. Golden bronze coloured strong and fruity. A little sweetness initially. Some bitterness in a crisp lasting finish. DruncanVeasey (8261) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2008 Alledgedly the last cask in existence, aged 1.5 years, The Swan and Rushes, Leicester. Months behind in my ratings and couldnt take notes, so need to get this one on whilst the memorys fresh. Stolen sips from the kindred tickers at the adjacent table early doors revealed a sticky citrus concoction, hops mellow with age but very much intact. Came back later to tame the Warthog for myself. Clear copper with a miraculous fleeting head. Liquid tropical jam/fermented fruit basket aroma of pineapple, peach, apricot...narcotic humming alpha mellowness. Surreal lightness of palate and lace at the proclaimed 13. Thick but unsyrupy with pineapple, peach... alcohol not present as a flavour. Glow and silk. Oakhams signature lip-smacking citrussy and tropical hoppage all the way, but more so. No obvious malt-derived flavours discenible. Outrageous. vintagefergie (21) - Worcestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2007
Very strong. Tastes somewhat like syrup. Good hops and bitterness try to counteract but maybee just a little too high in abv. apples. Biggest beer i’ve ever tasted. Deffinatley just a taste. Unusual but they are to be congratulated for being so daring. Well done.
