COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Seasonal Ale is our interpretation of the classic German Marzen style. It features Carolina harvested and malted artisan barley. Magnum and Palisade highlight a creative hop blend. The result is a deep amber color and a hearty flavor that salutes the old world taste of the season.

Unique take on a marzen, if not all that successful. Caramel and toffee abound on the front, but the use of ale yeast leaves out any major apple lager esters, instead leaving a wide open door for an unnecessary hop bitterness to take residence. Results in an overly dry back end that doesn't entirely mesh with the indulgent malt front, leading to a medicinal finish. Beautiful pour, though, orange-gold with a massive white head and tons of lacing. Creamy texture is oily and smooth, great for the style. Otherwise not a great festbier.

Draught at brewery. Dark orange in color with caramel and some sweetness to it. Decent.

I think this is one of the better Oktoberfest beers I’ve had, although I’m not a fan of marzens generally This beer brings a sweet, rich quality to the style that makes it just highly drinkable. It pours bright golden color with a fair amount of foam. The aroma is sweet, with molasses and sugary malt very prominent. That’s the flavor, too. None of it really segregates to the front or back of the tongue, it’s just this swirl of mild hops, a little something like honey, a bit of pineapple... it all adds up to an unassuming but decidedly sweet brew that I found refreshing.

Pour is a dark brown with a large white head. Aroma is a toasted grain with a little tootsie roll sweetness. Flavor is a very heavy mouth feel at first then comes some molasses and something like a fig. This is way sweeter than the style should be.

A nice brown ale. But not much of an octoberfest. Malty, not as sweet as you would expect.. Thin fading head. Flavor of fall. Overall an enjoyable beer.
