Black in color, with a medium body. this stout has both oat malt and flaked oats in addition to chocolate and black malts for a distinctive full coffee-like flavor. Served on nitrogen gas for added creamy texture!

on nitro-pours an off white head and mahogany color. Aroma is rich dark malt-roasty/licorice, some earthy hops. Taste is rich dark malt-roasty/licorice, some earthy hops, a bit ashy. Medium/full body.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with a bit creamy chocolate. Flavor is similar with dark grains and roasted malt upfront but more of a creamy dark chocolate finish.

hopscotch (11305) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 23, 2013
Draft... Jupiter Craft Brewer’s Festival 2013... Pitch black pour with crimson highlights and a mid-sized, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Decent retention. Other than charcoal, the grainy, carbonic nose introduces very little else. Barely medium-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor is burnt and bitter – charcoal and ash. Lengthy, scorched, bittersweet finish – more bitter than sweet.

Black. Good head leaving lots of lace, sweet roasted aroma, rich creamy body with a good dose of chocolate, touch of oatmeal oilyness, slight lingering bitter finish that almost disappears when it warms

Draft at the brewpub. Frankly, this was hard to distinguish from their porter, so everything I said about that one applies here too. This is slightly more bitter, which is the only thing my amateur palate could discern between the two. Decent. (#4314, 10/5/2011)

Black, dense brown head - looked like a nitro pour, in fact, but I don’t remember seeing a nitro tap. Nice but faint aroma of coffee. Lots of flavor, thought - coffee, of course, and burnt toast. Dryish finish with some lingering bitterness. Pretty tasty.

Black, with a thick brown head. Coffee and chocolate aroma, with a hint of burnt toast, too. Taste like tar and old coffee, but in a good way - trust me - and smooth, viscous finish. Sampled at the 2005 Asheville Brewer’s Jam.

decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 15, 2009
Dark brown pour with a creamy white head and lace. Light chocolate aroma. Flavor of roasted malt chocolate/cocoa. A tad thin and watery for my taste.
