COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust and warming, this stout has hints of coffee and dark chocolate. A complex variety of roasted malts, and moderate hopping temper the pleasant sweetness of this brew. This special batch lurked in our cellar until our brewers felt it was worthy of its name.

Draft at Thirsty Monk. Jet black pour with a large brown head. Scent is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt.. Thick taste of chocolate, wood and sugar with coffee and vanilla.

Pours a flat black body with a one finger foamy brown head that faded to a thin film. The nose is heavy dark chocolate and roasted malt with some coffee and dark fruits. The flavor is pretty intense on the roast, chocolate, and coffee with a moderate hop bitterness. Pretty thick and viscous on the palate with light soft carbonation. The alcohol seems to catch up pretty heavy on the finish. Definitely a slow sipper kinda beer. A lot of flavor in here, but its maybe a little overboard with the intensity. Glad this is a 12 oz bottle.

Mainly what I get in aroma is black patent malt and molasses not the coffee or Cocoa. Flavors better I do pick up some of the coffee though it’s not too fresh and Cocoa. its nice and roasty good body and fairly drinkable. No sign of the strength so far. Good finish.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2017 Sample at the new tap room. Inky black color with a medium creamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

12oz bottle from trade. Pours black with a finger of creamy dark tan head. Aroma of rich caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, sweet dark fruit, soy sauce, and some booziness. Taste of black charred malts, burnt coffee, bittersweet chocolate, earth, and a vanilla/caramel finish.

Complex malt character between dark roast, chocolate, bitterness and dark fruits. Drank smooth but a slightly harsher finish.

Bottle pour at the source. The beer is a thick brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has licorice and burnt toffee. Some caramel and raisin as well. More of a bitter stout. Big body and lower carbonation.
