From what I have gathered the first rollout of this brew was funky...and not good. Just about anywhere you looked said they had it but didn’t. Finally got to try and it and wow, very refreshing take on what can be a boring style. Nice carbonation effervescence with a solid bourbon nose -- and of course that classic saison taste with a nice dose of whiskey to boot. This is a cool beer.

On tap at Pies & Pints, Charleston, WV, 8.5.16. Black with a tan head. A little tarty, hoppy aroma with some citrus. Lightly tarty and pear in the mouth. Full body, fruity, tarty finish.

Draft pour. The beer is a darker ruby with a beige head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has a strong bourbony character to it. I get some fruity, almost lactic character from it, too. A bit of roast comes through in the taste. A touch of funk as well. All else leans toward the sweet side. Medium body and medium carbonation. Not bad.

On tap at B&D. Black with medium beige head. Aroma is dark malt, medium body, medium/well carbonated, and a little lacing. Taste is dark malt, chocolate, some yeast, and nice bourbon. This is not a saison, but I enjoyed this pretty well.

black color; spicy, oaky, bourbon aroma; lots of bourbon notes in the flavor; notes of dark fruit and raisins, oak, spicy saison yeast, and lots of bourbon; dark, roasted malt base

Tap @ brewery. Very dark with tan head. Interesting- I can smell the bourbon but it’s cut with a dry note and maybe some chocolate. Lots of bourbon. Nice.
