Aroma is very hoppy and malty, sweet grapefruit and grassy. Appearance is dark dark brown, beige head. Taste is very malty and bitter, hop presence at the back. The flavor is like a bitter scotch ale with the hops finishing. The mouthfeel is sticky, the flavor does not dissipate. Overall, it’s tasty and complex. msante79 (2244) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - NOV 23, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 24, 2012 On tap at Bad Apple. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of pine, citrusy hops, and a fair amount of bready malts. Flavors of chocolate, bitter hops, citrus, and some pine. Nice black IPA. alexsdad06 (11243) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours near black with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is green earthy and citrus hops on a base of roasted malts with some underlying cocoa. Flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, earthy and citrus hops. Overall, not too bad. swigswthwolves (74) - Michigan City, Indiana, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Aroma is very bitter and full of hops. It is dark with a light brown head. Taste is very hoppy with plenty of citrus to compliment the hops. Finish is clean and fresh with lingering bitterness. If you’re not used to black IPAs matching the flavor with the darkness of this beer confuses the senses. The all around complexity of this beer makes it one everyone should try. Had on tap at Kuma’s Corner. Served in a pint glass.
A: Pours a light black color with dark brown edges where the light catches it. A light tan head forms on the pour and dissipates to a thin collar. It leaves some nice soapy webbing behind.
S: The nose has some fruity citrus hops with some nice roasted malts and some light bitter chocolate. Pretty standard, but good.
T: Wow, the taste is significantly better than the nose. There is a great combination of citrus hop flavors with a nice roasted oat malt body. The bitter chocolate provides a nice base for the citrus and there is also a light coffee bean flavor that plays off the lingering hop flavor. The finish is roasty with a light pine.
M: Medium bodied with a nice carbonation. The finish is refreshing with a drying, roasted finish.
O: Very solid. Really well done with the green hops lingering in the background while the roasted malts and chocolate flavors were upfront. Nicely done Greenbush.

On tap at Blackthorn Pub, Holly,MI...this could easily pass as an Imperial Stout as it is deep black and viscous. But it is balanced with a green leafiness and a delightful funk that was very appealing. My first Greenbush tap...outstanding! Patrickctenchi (6812) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - OCT 7, 2012
