Almost black with a tan head. Aroma of hops, dark chocolate, some licorice and grapefruit. Similar taste. Nicely balanced and with a bitter finish. A tasty one.

Pours dark mahogany color with a small head. Aroma is quite nice with citric fruits, some salmiac, dark malts, subtle cocoa notes too. Flavor is bitter malty, dark fruits, lemon, hops, subtle resin notes and mild grapefruits. Refreshing, leans just the right amount to the fruity side. Nice.
Bottle. Pours a deep blackish brown with a frothy tan head. Aromas are a mix of powdered chocolate and pine needles and flavor is similar with most of the kick coming from resinous piney hops in the finish. Bottle shared at Kickbacks. Pours a dark brown black with a tan head. Aromas of orange and pine. Slightly woody. Taste is balanced between bitter and roasty. Very good black IPA.

Bottled 07/08/15. Just about 90 days on it. Pour into tulip, black, almost chestnut as the light shines through on the pour. Big mocha colored head, very creamy. Looks good. First whiff, I get a big piece of candied orange, or some tropical fruit, maybe pineapple, def. citrus notes. But the power of that dissipates quickly into heavy roasted malt notes. Coffee dominant, some mild chocolate. Malt is really nice. If you dig for it, the citrus is there, but it’s almost more of a hoppy stout. As for flavor,the stout qualities really dominate, but this may be b/c it’s 90 days past bottling, maybe fresher it’d be more citrus-y. Still not into stout territory, but getting there. Roasted malt, chocolate, mild citrus in there except for the hop bite where the hops resurface. Pretty solid mouthfeel on that bad boy. It’s a good black IPA. Is it the best? Bottle:   Black, very nice light khaki head, fine bubbles, very sticky lacing... probably one of the
better looking Black IPAs.   Spicy nose, like a spiced dark chocolate.   Smooth on the tongue, sweet
roasted malts, with that dark chocolate with a hint of some sort of spice.   I want to say some sort of
cinnamon and maybe some chilies.   Very interesting, and different.   Smooth on the tongue, almost full
bodied.   Clean finish, soft roasted malts, a bit sweet, with the aformentioned spices.   This one is very

This black IPA pours a giant, foamy head with a nose of anise and resiny hops. First taste is of mild tobacco and black pat malt, then fades into roasty bitterness. Head retention is good. Pours thick dark coffee in color with a lady beige head. The aroma is light roasted not quite burnt coffee. Flavor is nice roasted coffee notes and pretty subtle hops after that.
