12 oz Bottle. Appearance is dark brown/black color with medium, beige head--in color, head, and lacing this is a beautiful beer. Aroma is forward with the citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, pine with a subtle roasty, coffee note in the background. Taste is nice and bitter with the herbally, piney flavors showing. Roasted malt coffee and slight sweet caramel are also present. Palate is medium to full-bodied, creamy texture, and nice and dry in the finish. Great beer.

12 oz. bottle pours a dark brown/with moderate beige head that leaves good lacing. Aroma has citrus and piney hops with some roasted coffee and perhaps even coconut. Taste is bitter at the start with some caramel sweetness and roastiness in the middle before the bitterness lingers in the finish. Body is medium to full with average carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel. There’s a lot more going on here than I expected. A great black IPA I’ll definitely try again.

Bottle:   Black, very nice light khaki head, fine bubbles, very sticky lacing... probably one of the better looking Black IPAs.   Spicy nose, like a spiced dark chocolate.   Smooth on the tongue, sweet roasted malts, with that dark chocolate with a hint of some sort of spice.   I want to say some sort of cinnamon and maybe some chilies.   Very interesting, and different.   Smooth on the tongue, almost full bodied.   Clean finish, soft roasted malts, a bit sweet, with the aformentioned spices.   This one is very unique, and very welcomed.   Great example!

Bottle shared at Kickbacks. Pours a dark brown black with a tan head. Aromas of orange and pine. Slightly woody. Taste is balanced between bitter and roasty. Very good black IPA.

Had on tap at Kuma’s Corner. Served in a pint glass. A: Pours a light black color with dark brown edges where the light catches it. A light tan head forms on the pour and dissipates to a thin collar. It leaves some nice soapy webbing behind. S: The nose has some fruity citrus hops with some nice roasted malts and some light bitter chocolate. Pretty standard, but good. T: Wow, the taste is significantly better than the nose. There is a great combination of citrus hop flavors with a nice roasted oat malt body. The bitter chocolate provides a nice base for the citrus and there is also a light coffee bean flavor that plays off the lingering hop flavor. The finish is roasty with a light pine. M: Medium bodied with a nice carbonation. The finish is refreshing with a drying, roasted finish. O: Very solid. Really well done with the green hops lingering in the background while the roasted malts and chocolate flavors were upfront. Nicely done Greenbush. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-14-2012

In short: A roasted and citrusy Black IPA of above average quality.
How: Growler shared at Camping Brewdown 2012.
The look: Very near black body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose is inviting with pleasant bright hop aroma (mostly citrusy but also a bit grassy) and a good roast. Taste has highly roasted blackened malts with some of the usual suspects of this type of malt backbone (cacao sensation, ground coffee), nothing fruity here. Hopping shines, mostly citrusy, bitterness of medium intensity. The roast and bitterness create a somewhat dry finish. Good mouthfeel with a lot of soft bubbles. My type of Black IPA, an above average example of the style. Another good growler shared at week-end long Camping Brewdown 2012, that party was so epic that it should have been narrated by Morgan Freeman.

[4695-20120817] Growler. Roasted coffee ground aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy brown head. Roasty coffee grounds and resiny hops flavour. Full body. Quite tasty. (7/4/8/4/16) 3.9

Anger pours a dark chocolate color with a thick dark brown head that leaves lacing everywhere. The aroma is sharp floral hops. Floral hops are the backbone of this beer. Overall this is an enjoyable brew. I would recommend you have one if you enjoy IPAs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
