Tap: Deep, rich copper color with faint ruby hints; a foamy, khaki-colored head sits on top & leaves behind a little bit of lacing. Aroma contains pungent pine needles, mild herbs, ash, bitter citrus zest, & a surprisingly absent malt bill (given the deep color of the brew). Taste is harmonious with the aroma; pines, pine needles, dirty & earthy hop oils, grapefruit pith, & bitter tangerine peels attack the palate. Very, very small amount of malt sugar sweetness to balance, but this is still a very bitter brew overall. Heavy citrus zest in the finish, lingering bitter pine needles. Enjoyed this more the Dunegras & much more than Brother Benjamin, though it still doesn’t blow me away. Would like to see this in bottles. crossovert (13080) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Great beer, dry, huge hop bitterness, lots of floral and citrus notes. Super hazy and unfiltered.
