Had on tap at Bad Apple in Chicago, served in a 16oz. Hofbräuhaus stein.
A: Pours a very hazy dark brown with a pillowy one inch, bone colored head that has some great retention. The head sticks around for quite sometime and leaves some sticky and plentiful lace down the whole glass.
S: The peppery and clove like yeast hits you in the nose right away. There is some banana bread like sweetness and some oaty malts as well.
T: The taste is much like nose. Nice notes of spicy fruity esters and banana like yeast. It is a touch more peppery than the nose. The malty sweetness on the finish brings it together.
M: Full bodied in flavor, but not to heavy at all. The drinkability was very nice and the stein went down easy. Carbontion was spot on.
O: A very solid brew from an up and coming brewery. I’m excited to try more from Greenbush in the new future as more kegs come to Chicago.

Rated on 4-01-2017. This draft beer’s appearance is a very small head that mostly diminished, transparent reddish body, no carbonation observed, and spotty lacing. The aroma is some yeast, banana, spicy and caramel malt. The flavor is yeast, banana, spicy, lightly sweet, and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. This draft brew from a restaurant was served at a cool temperature and poured a head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated body transparent orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was bready and woody. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong rye aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of malt and rye. From notes. 12 oz bottle shared during a sharing of the Advent Calendar (conclusion!) on March 30. The pour is a muddy tan with a light cream colored head and no lacing. The aroma is pretty malty and a little spicy, which is decent. There is a pretty strong Belgian character to it, which is just meh. The flavor is very reminiscent of the aroma. I’m surprised there isn’t more of a spiciness on the flavor of this one. There is a defined Belgian yeastiness and a solid malt character that is surprisingly nice. On tap. Pours a dark brown that transforms to a ruby/garnet when held to the light. A thinner khaki to mocha head settles to a ring and leaves a few heaps of clingy, intricate lace. Big clove immediately on the nose, followed by banana, cherry, a touch of vinegar, raisin-bread, and other Belgian yeast sweet-spice character. Very malty sweet with a fair bitterness that helps balance. Heavy side of medium bodied, a fair active carb, with a long spicy finish. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
