Draft at oe... Dark mahogany, a bit dirty, creamy tan head, good retention... The aroma is a bit plain, clove, caramelized sugar, bit of spice on the finish... The taste as first is really nice at first, fresh banana, dark fruit and caramel, but as you drink it becomes cloying and hot, way too much alcohol gives me a burn... above average but I wouldnt seek out ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rated on 4-01-2017. This draft beers appearance is a very small head that mostly diminished, transparent reddish body, no carbonation observed, and spotty lacing. The aroma is some yeast, banana, spicy and caramel malt. The flavor is yeast, banana, spicy, lightly sweet, and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this is an easy drinking beer that could use a bit more flavor to it.

This draft brew from a restaurant was served at a cool temperature and poured a head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated body transparent orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was bready and woody. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong rye aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of malt and rye. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

From notes. 12 oz bottle shared during a sharing of the Advent Calendar (conclusion!) on March 30. The pour is a muddy tan with a light cream colored head and no lacing. The aroma is pretty malty and a little spicy, which is decent. There is a pretty strong Belgian character to it, which is just meh. The flavor is very reminiscent of the aroma. Im surprised there isnt more of a spiciness on the flavor of this one. There is a defined Belgian yeastiness and a solid malt character that is surprisingly nice. The mouth feel is a bit thin, but the light carbonation helps a little, ad there is a spicy, dry aftertaste

Draft to taster. Looks decent for the style; a murky golden brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes yeasty and malty with some dark fruit and spices with a bit of tartness. Average on the palate. Okay.

On tap. Pours a dark brown that transforms to a ruby/garnet when held to the light. A thinner khaki to mocha head settles to a ring and leaves a few heaps of clingy, intricate lace. Big clove immediately on the nose, followed by banana, cherry, a touch of vinegar, raisin-bread, and other Belgian yeast sweet-spice character. Very malty sweet with a fair bitterness that helps balance. Heavy side of medium bodied, a fair active carb, with a long spicy finish. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It seems well hopped, which helps considering how sweet the style is prone to being. Paired nicely with a hearty meal.

On tap at Greenbush brewpub. Hazy caramel with a creamy tan head and some lacing. Aroma of banana, caramel, grains, light spice and a touch of yeast. Taste of banana and alcohol with toffee, light clove, malt and some sugars. Sweet throughout and decent.

On draft at French Laundry. Dark brown with a thin head. Big yeasty smell. Odd sour taste.

Had on tap at Bad Apple in Chicago, served in a 16oz. Hofbruhaus stein. A: Pours a very hazy dark brown with a pillowy one inch, bone colored head that has some great retention. The head sticks around for quite sometime and leaves some sticky and plentiful lace down the whole glass. S: The peppery and clove like yeast hits you in the nose right away. There is some banana bread like sweetness and some oaty malts as well. T: The taste is much like nose. Nice notes of spicy fruity esters and banana like yeast. It is a touch more peppery than the nose. The malty sweetness on the finish brings it together. M: Full bodied in flavor, but not to heavy at all. The drinkability was very nice and the stein went down easy. Carbontion was spot on. O: A very solid brew from an up and coming brewery. Im excited to try more from Greenbush in the new future as more kegs come to Chicago. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 01-16-2012
