This has something like a mild whiskey barrel character to it, not bad. It’s deep, dark brown w/ a thick brown head. It’s nose is all coffee roast and when you taste it, some sweetness brings out some pleasant nutty oxidation and a touch of cherry, presumably from the yeast. It is big and creamy but not undrinkable w/ its only real flaw being an ever so slight ashy note. If you like big stouts, this should be right up your alley. stoutgap (61) - Indiana, USA - FEB 12, 2016

Bottle. Pours black. Small tan head. Big roasty coffee aroma. Taste of coffee and milk chocolate. Very nice beer from what is becoming one of my favorite Michigan breweries. Need to make a road trip to this place. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JAN 12, 2016
Bottle @ Home. Just about black in color with a massive khaki head. Roast and burnt sugar dominate. A bit of coffee, some licorice, and a ton of ash. The flavor is pretty bitter and roast. Tons of burnt bread and sugar. Somewhat sugary, too. There’s a light nutty quality, a bit of ash, and some molasses. Way overcarbonated, too. nsquishee (641) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2015
Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and faint pumpkin pie spice. Pours dark and clear. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, oak barrel, lemon, leather, and butter dark malt. Starts out sweet and ends with a bitter, tannic roasty-ness. Not bad, but would be very glad or if there was a smoother finish. pumpmaster (1393) - Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA - SEP 14, 2015
