Growler shared by Tmoney99. Pours dark brown in color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma had roasted malts, chocolate, Belgian candi sugar, and some dark fruits. The flavor had the same; roasted malts bordering on ashy, chocolate, dark fruits and Belgian candi sugar. There is a decent amount of sweetness throughout and a slight bitterness at the finish. b3shine (9143) - Indiana, USA - JUL 10, 2012
Growler to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks decent, but dark (pitch black) for a Belgian style ale. Smells sweet, malty, ashy, and doughy. Tastes bitter and busy. Mouthfeel is average. A little too much going on for me. BuckeyeBoy (8469) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 11, 2016
12oz bottle thanks to rick. Pours out a rusty amber topped with a small head. Nose is rich malts some pit fruit and nice spice. Taste is more of the rich malts some pit fruit and spice. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - OCT 25, 2011
6 oz pour on tap at the brewpub (Sawyer, MI). Pours a rich brownish dark hue, a good haze, with darker copper glowing edges, brownish with a decent frothy tannish head, dies to a film, laces ok though. Aromas are fruity and biscuity, offering some toast and caramel, gentle pear, apple, cocoa. Faint waft of dark fruit, mellow spice, soap, more spicy Belgian yeast. Touches of candi sugar. Initial is fuller bodied offering a potent sweetness and toast up front, some cocoa and a good healthy dose of plum and dark fruit. A touch of dark black cherry, some spice, caramel and toffee. Mellow bread, toast, biscuits. Middle and back start to show more budding red and dark fruit, plums and toffee, caramel, and a touch of dry toast, spice, some vanilla, and brown sugar. Finish is dried a bit, mellow sweetness. I actually enjoyed this morn than expected. Nice.
