Cask. Malt and dried fruit. Brown to copper in colour with thin top. There was a time when this was special because so little else was even passable. There was a time when its smooth blending and balancing of hops and malts was enough. I still find more to savour here than in some over-hopped craft ale. It will keep its pace. But its also a marker of all that has changed. Pre-revolutionary. Vive la revolution!

Cask at the Piazza JDW, Birmingham Airport. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is stale malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

It has a light amber color with a creamy off white head. Aroma are a blend of toffee, light fruity and herbal hopps. Flavor contains caramel and toffe sweetness, fruity and herbal hoppy. A bit low carbonation as usual on handpull.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2016 Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, soft toffee, biscuit, subtle grass and fruit. Taste of caramel, biscuit, fruit, subtle grass and slight earthy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A biscuity bitterness in the finish. Recognisable Greene King characteristics but one of my favourites from the brewery.

Pre-RB - Cask at JDW Cardiff - Central Bar. Hazy dark orange, small scummy white head. Body medium, smooth. Taste - sweet caramel, overtaken by harsh ashy bitterness. Unbalanced. (2.6)

Apr 2015 - Cask at Railway Putney. In a plastic cup due to football hooliganism. Hazy dark amber orange, still, very big foamy beige head, thick lacing. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is ashy, burnt toffee, strong noble hop metallics, medium bitterness. Good condition. My tastes have changed to compensate for this. Its not for beginners! (3.3)
