"Abbot Ale is the culmination of knowledge and skills that have developed over centuries of experience. Brewed longer to a unique recipe using pale, amber and crystal malts, making it a full flavoured, smooth and mature beer. This irresistible ale has masses of fruit characters, a malty richness and superb hop balance."

the aroma is malty and fruity with shades of garden berries, toffee, nuts, cake and some herbs... the taste is malty and fruity with notes of berries, nuts, toffee, resin, candy and spicy grasses... sweet, bitter and dry aftertaste...

Bland for an ESB. Little hop influence. $3.39 for tall boy can was pricey. Wouldn’t buy again.

500ml can BB 31/3/2017 Slight malty aroma with a faint whiff of wet cardboard. Amber color with average head. Mild bitterness with a slight malty palate and a thin finish and a touch of cardboard at the very back. Average but drinkable.

Lovely warm aroma of fruit and toffee, almost Christmas pudding esque. Really good malty hoppy flavour, bit sweeter than I thought but not a complaint, the rich maltiness and toffee sweetness work brilliantly together and finish with a light bitter aftertaste. For me, I can’t find much of a fault with this beer, it’s very drinkable, it’s aroma is beautiful and the taste matches.

Piwo klarowne w kolorze bursztynowym z biala dosc obfita piana. W aromacie karmel, slody i lekki diacetyl. W smaku ziolowo-orzechowy dosc wodnisty z goryczka na niskim poziomie. Karmel i lekkie owoce z wysyceniem na dosc niskim poziomie. Typowy przedstawiciel niezbyt ciekawego gatunku ktory mozna dostac chyba w wiekszosci angielskich pubow.

Wischylini (302) - Grimstad, NORWAY - AUG 19, 2016
Appearance Pours a clear amber, with a tiny white head that disappears quickly.
Aroma The aroma is weak and one-dimensional; mostly musty with some creamy diacetyl, and with hints of toffee, nuts and some dried figs.
Taste Very sweet, with a light bitterness.
Palate Medium-heavy body, light carbonation.
Overall An alright beer, but there’s nothing that really makes it stand out. Nor do I get why the brewery claims it has "masses of fruit characters", when you can clearly tell from the reviews that the flavour is malt-driven.

courtesy of Jaghana.
