Clear dark brown beer. Light toffee malt nose. Light crisp palate, some carbonated bite. Reasonably rich malt with a trace of bitter toffee. Finishes crisp and dry. One dimensional but actually works reasonably well for it’s abv.

[ Vintage ]. Clear dark amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, beige head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, oxidide malt, cardboard, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
Bottled. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is strong wooden notes, along with caramell malts and some mild raisiny notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Still rather nice though even though it was TBone (17990) - Pori, FINLAND - AUG 8, 2009
Bottled 275 ml (at Chriso, bottle from SilkTork, BB 05/1990).
Dark brown color, small off-white head. Raisins and port in the nose. Very watery. Mild fruity flavor of raisins and pear. Sherryish palate. Aged very well.

This was available today in bottles at the Chequers, Barley, Hertfordshire. I was offered either a bottle from the fridge or one at room temperature. I chose the latter. It poured dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma was sweet and malty. The taste had some fruity sourness and a hint of liquorice. Mid bitter finish. Plenty of flavour for a mere 3%. Thought it was pretty good, really. SilkTork (5800) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAR 10, 2008
275ml bottle. From Shropshire - vintage 1989. In good condition with a little carbonation - faint cardboard notes, and quite a dry mouthfeel even though there’s fair degree of sweetness in the flavour. A decent enough malty dark beer with pleasant sweetness and a rolling red fruit in the mouth - somewhere between strawberries and raspberries with some cranberries thrown in. A rollicking good brown ale! Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - MAY 3, 2005
Bottled. Deep brown coloured. Very malty aroma with notes of raisins. Very sweet and malty flavour, notes of raisins again. Medium bodied for a 3%ABV brew.
