Greene King IPA Gold is a light, refreshing golden ale that truly brings out the best in the unique and aromatic Savinsjki Goldings hop variety. The craftsmanship in this beer lies in the late hopping which creates a perfect blend of tropical fruits, mango and spicy notes and delivers a beer with a clean bitter taste and a crisp dry finish.

There are lots of very good arguments about why beer shouldnt be packaged in clear glass bottles, normally I agree with them in general but in IPA Golds case that would have meant missing out on its beautiful golden colour. Unfortunately the colour is the best thing about this ale. The aroma is typical of Greene King and always reminds me slightly of stale cigarette smoke. The beer is not quite insipid, but definitely watery and lacking in flavour and despite pouring a good initial head it rapidly falls. All-in-all rather disappointing.

Nice Gold colour thinish head. Sweet fruity aroma. Taste is nice sweet malt with citrus fruitiness and dryness but not too strong/overpowering so a nice easy drinker.

Pours a pale blonde colour. Aroma is of fag ash. Some Kentish hops and more fag ash on the taste. Ok to drink but a bit would be nicer if it didnt taste of discarded Benson and Hedges

Clear 500 ml bottle, from a corner shop in London. ABV is 4.1%. Golden colour, large white head. Heineken-like aroma of lightstruck hops, not unpleasant though, also hints of toffee. Fairly fresh and refreshing flavour, not very exciting, but not bad.

Bottle. Clear gold body with a frothy white head with no retention. Nose is bread, citrus and peppery hops, tangerine syrup. The beer is bittersweet, with hop bitterness and what seem like added sugar. Dry finish. Surprisingly good this.

Served in a tulip from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear lemon-gold colour with a white head. Aroma is caramel, grass, slightly floral and metallic with stale tea notes. Taste is grass, stale cold weak tea (?) and not much else, very mildly and watery bitter-sweet. Watery and thin body with lively carbonation. Nothing special, quite dull and uninteresting.
