dark ale
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.
Bottles have been sterile filtered since May 2006.

Tasty beer, which adds a hint of chocolate and wood in the taste. A must try! caramel, chocolate, toast, herbs, licorice, raisin, soy sauce, woody, brown, clear, minimal head, brown foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium sourness, full body, thin feel, average carbonation, abrupt finish

Beautiful dark ruby with well lasting brown head. Aroma is grapes, dark chocolate, licorice, toffee, cocoa. Taste is dark chocolate bittersweetness with some phenolic licorice. Some grape sourness as well. The sourness doesnt fit so perfect per se but the whole thing is still well rounded. Full body, yet not knocking you over. Light in the mouth with just the right amount of little bubbles. Long finish of dried fruit and chocolate in a maybe a bit too clogging way for the daily consumption. But today is just right. So dark and beautifully complex. I am amazed! One more random thought: This reminds me a lot of the Asam Bock from Weltenburger, however it did even more things right :)

Dark ruby. Caramel with some fruity esters and a bit of spice. Sweet taste with a dry and bitter finish. Medium body. A good old ale. It needs more malt flavour to support the sweetness. Beautiful color and great aroma, though.

Bottle, gift from Mum & Dad- cheers! Brown with a thin beige head and a moderate frothy fizz. Very smooth mouthfeel. A deep and complex flavour of chocolate, wood, port, figs, raisins and plums. Its sweet at first with a light sourness and dryness developing. The lasting woody, vinous aftertaste is not quite up to the flavour of the main body of the beer but this is still a very impressive brew- why cant GK do more beers of this standard?

Swaroga (2205) - Warszawa, POLAND - OCT 6, 2016
33cl bottle. Brown with small head. Nice, warm aroma of dried dark fruits, brown sugar, maltose, a bit of bbq sauce, maybe some delicately smoked wood. Oily but not super thick. Beer is well balanced. It has a medium sweet, caramel-ish, roasted toast malty backbone. Fruity and spicy middle. Finish gets a bit earthy but not too much. Balanced and not super interesting. Just better beer in a boring Tesco.
