500ml brown bottle. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights, the head reduces to a small tan swirl. Aroma has notes of wine and cherries. Flavour has fruity notes as well, again cherries stand out, light honey and also a bit of nuttiness. Some noticable alcohol and some slight sourness. Some roasty like iron notes in the finish. Medium body, active carbonation. Interesting beer but not really what I think of when I think dubbel. I hated it initally, but it grew on me after my first glass.

Loose bubbled light tan head. The body is dark brown with a dark, rich orange tint when held to light. The aroma is some cinnamon and cherry cough syrup. The taste has some nasty notes of burnt almonds and marischino cherries. Really sweet with little to balance that out. There is also a hint of cinnamon spice in the aftertaste. Too much carbonation.

Bottled. Deep ruby red colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is dark/red berries. Flavour is the same along with some milder hints from alcohol. Drinkable.

Ernest (7553) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2007
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel), with notes of brown sugar and overripe banana. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Could pass as a real brown ale, though certainly not a great one.

Braudog (6548) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - OCT 28, 2007
Bottle: This pour is a muddy, river-bottom reddish-brown, with a boiling top of big rocky foam that fades immediately, but clings for dear life to the side of the glass. The aroma, as all of these Greenís beers Iíve tried, is sour and off-putting. Likewise, the flavor is a mess ... sour and mushy, like fermented lifesavers or something, this is a trainwreck. Bottled (BB 06/2009)
Ruby color, mostly vanishing off-white head. Sticky berry-like (red currant) nose. Strange berry-like flavor. Crisp carbonation, alcohol pushing through strawberry and red currant flavors. Odd.

Pours a brown body with a healthy tan head. Aroma of apples and alcohol. Same flavor. Winey. Strange, and not in a terribly enjoyable way.

JPDIPSO (6042) - Wauwatosa, USA - OCT 18, 2007
Bubbly chestnut colored liquid. Taller somewhat diminishing dark beige head. Sweet aromas with caramel, apple skin, horse blanket and yeast. Has a mild "tainted" scent that reminds me of one of my past homebrews that had just a hint of funk. A dark apple cider flavor. Quite thin and bubbly in feel. I like buckwheat, but Iím not catching much in this one. Some dark caramel, spice and a bit of rust in the linger. Actually one of the better gluten free brews that I have had. This one captures a few qualities of a dubbel to make it interesting.

Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - OCT 18, 2007
The aroma softens as it warms, but this ale begins with an onslaught of nail polish, some dark stoned fruit, and a trace of vanilla. It has an industrial chemical feel in the mouth. The flavor is fruity, dark, with alcohol and strange herbs. It finishes on that chemical note. At least it looks swell, a deep brown with reddiish highlighting and a thick, rocky tan head.
