3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark black pour small brown head dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is light heavily roasted malts a slight char and a touch of bitter cocoa powder. Avg palate. Flavor is nicely subtle char smoke over a lot of roast malts a pretty lingering bitterness touches of grass and coffee in the finish. Overall a good porter lacks a little depth though.
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2017 Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown color with a light off white foamy head that holds it’s own as it dissipated. Light messy foamy lace.
The aroma started with a dried grassy hoppiness. Then some peat and subtle smoke. Robust dark malts.
The flavor leans towards the smoke with an ample amount of blended peat to grassiness really gripping my taste buds in a ruggedly dry fashion. Some slight meatiness comes in as it warms. Ends up pushing into the aftertaste and on into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Low carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, took a little bit but the sweet to smokey flavor only came out as it warmed. Maybe again. Bebum (1060) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 22, 2017
Clear, dark copper.
Medium body, intense flavor, lean mouthfeel with low heat and carbonation, average length, with weak finish flavor.
Dry, moderate bitterness and acidity.
Assertive peat and roast flavors.
Refreshing and curious.

Shared 16 oz. can poured to snifters showing a black/brown hue, with abundant, tan froth, and spots & ribbons of foamy lacing. The nose was roasted, chocolate, malt, and woodiness, with a slight scent of fels naptha-like soapiness. Medium bodied, with low carbonation, the taste retained a bit of the soapiness, presented more of the expected peat smoke, along with roasted & earthy bitterness. Washed out some in the texture, and finished dry. dlovell2 (2237) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - FEB 17, 2017
Pours black with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with a woodiness and smoke. Flavor is roasted malt with smoke, sweet malt and a dry wood finish. Bill Becker (1367) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - FEB 17, 2017
No dating on the can.
A: It’s black, a finger of off white foam, much better than average lacing.
S: Light smoke, roasted malt, chocolate, a lactose smell.
T: Smoke roasted malt, chocolate, lactose, on the mild side.
M: Low side of medium bodied.
O: I reckon that this would be a good introductory beer of the smoked kind. Real fanciers of the style could possibly

Six pack from Nikki’s. Pours out jet black foamy tan head settles to a thin lace. Smoke aromas and flavors are very very subtle. Otherwise this is a tasty clean drinking porter. johnnnniee (4405) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 30, 2016
Can from Drum Hill Liquors
Dark brown/Black in color with a huge frothy creamy tan head that persists forever. Earthy spicy hops with a hint of smokiness on the nose. Light chocolate and roast as well. Earthy spicy hops with some light bacon campfire flavor. Moderate chocolatey roast that lingers in the finish. Decent beer, seems a bit like a black IPA with some smoke. Pours dark brown with a small tan head, good lacing. Aroma of dark malts, ashy and caramel. Taste is ashy, roast malts, caramel and chocolate
Can pour into shaker pint glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Aroma is mild roasted malts with light ash, caramel, dark fruit. Appearance is dark brown/mahogany--almost black--with 1/2 finger-width beige head with poor retention and trace lacing. Taste is slightly stronger than aroma but similar--mostly roasted malt and lightly ashy. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and mildly sweet and lasting ash finish. Overall, a promising premise that is fairly weak in aroma and taste.
