KajII's rating

KajII (800) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - OCT 18, 2012
16.9oz Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white creamy head that was mostly diminishing, down to a thin film and small collar with excellent sheets of lacing. The aroma was rather mild of a light grain malt and a mild sweaty yeast with notes of citrus (lemon), banana, bubble gum and a bit of clove. The taste was a light malty sweet with a dash of citrus at first, becoming very yeasty with a slight fruity ester and a mild spicy ending. The flavor was kind of short in duration with a light citrusy yeast taste fading away into the background. Mouthfeel was light in body with a watery, creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Overall this was a pretty typical Hefeweizen that had a good light fruity taste, a mild ABV and a great drinkability, which most definitely makes this a great summer session brew...

Hazy yellow-gold with a white head. Aroma was yeasty with a bit of a spicy edge. I kept thinking that it would break out into some distinct clove or banana flavors/aroma, but it continued stop smell like fresh yeast rolls or the inside of a proofing oven. Nice clean wheat flavors. Overall quite nice!

Cloudy yellow-grey. Nose is sweet, banana bread, fruity, booze. Taste is crisp, apple cider, spice, touch of sour. Clean finish. Not terrible, but I think I got an old batch.

Cloudy straw colored beer with a thick fizzy bright white head. Nose of hay, lemon, and light clove. Flavor is a bit sweet, but crisp and refreshing with candied orange, lemon peel, and white pepper followed by a mild bitterness that lingers. Good beer for the style.

unclear hazy light-golden, medium white head, yeasty banana and fruity aroma, thick creamy mouthfeel, nice medium sweetness, some spices and fruits

50cl bottle from trade with Sebilinz, many thanks! Pours murky golden colour with a mid-sized good lasting white head. Aroma of bananas, yeast and wheat. Taste of riped bananas, some clove, yeast and wheat.

Pours gold with a small white head. Aroma is grain, banana, clove and earthy. Taste is sweet with a very light tartness. Crisp finish, good carbonation and overall a refreshing weiss.

Bottle. On sale at Mariano’s (South Loop). Murky, straw gold pour, smallish head that disappeared quickly. Nose is very faint clove, banana and smells more than a hint like stomach acid. Mouth is medium, lacks the creaminess it should have and also lacks much of what I look for in a Weißbier. I’ll drink it, but I wouldn’t buy this again or recommend it to anyone. Thankfully it was only $2.99

The Beer Store, Southampton, PA 50cl: pours cloudy gold with a white head. Aroma is banana and clove. Taste is sweet and full of candy. Nice light spiciness. Nice and light.

500 ml bottled pictured from Keg Liquors; split four way. Aroma: Lemon and lightly tart wheat character without too much in the way of phenols and spices. Appearance: Slightly hazy tinted yellow with a skinny white head that fades into a ring. Flavor: Wheat characteristics still more present up front, but banana finally shows up with some light clove towards the finish, which is mostly dry. Palate: Medium body, slightly sticky texture, very soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Wasn’t originally taken with it very much, but this turned out to be a well nuanced example. Worth a try, especially for lovers of the style.

500 ml bottle from a supermarket.
Straw colored, hazy body, with a big, unstable, frothy, moderately lacing, white head.
Aroma of banana, vanilla, sweet bread, orange, clove, some dried fruits.
Taste is quite light, with banana, orange, spices, some citrus, vanilla, bread.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an almost fizzy carbonation.
Finishes spicy, yeasty, fruity, a bit bready, a bit hoppy.

Nice. The nose is really lovely, characterful, while the taste is too light and a bit overcarbonated for me. Overall a good style example, but not among my favourite Hefeweizens from Austria.
