The Grieskirchner Pilsner is the flagship of the brewery Gries churches. Anyone who has tasted the bitter delicate hop aroma once, will not easily be persuaded to an alternative.

Through its delicately tart hop aroma is very digestible. The Grieskirchner brewers affectionately call it their "Zechbier".

Interesting that they call it bitter. It did taste a bit Heinekiny and wasnt as enjoyable as a German pils.

Bottle. Pale gold, half an inch of foamy head. Doughy malt aroma, not much hop aroma despite the label! Medium high carb. Rich sweet bread malt, some chalky notes, sulphur, soft bitterness.

Bottle brought back home from Austria. The beer has got a clear light golden colour with low head and medium to crisp body. Aroma of hops and grass. Taste of mild hops, mild citrus fruits, grass and hay. Medium bitterness with a relatively high carbonation. Refreshing and easy to drink, yet nothing special.

Aroma: wow, no skunk out of the bottle despite green bottling! Amazing. Not much to smell here until it’s poured into the glass where the unmistakable and pleasing aroma of noble hops becomes apparent. There is also a bit of grass. Flavor: again pretty mild at first, but then there is a little hop bitterness in the finish. Very clean. Reminded me a little of Warsteiner, but a little more refined, if not quite as flavorful or popcorn-y. Nice pils. Took a risk getting a six-pack of these without sampling beforehand, but I’m glad I did. Will work very well for the summer especially.

Bottle. Clear, pale golden body, with a big, frothy, white head. Aroma of grains, hay, grass, honey. Taste is a bit watery, with grains, bread, herbs, honey. Mouthfeel is light, slick, with a low carbonation and it finishes medium bitter, with grains and herbs. Average Pilsener, nothing special.

Pours out a typical golden color, clear, and topps the glass with an average white foamy head that goes away rather soon. The aroma is again nothing special. There are some malts and some (sweet) grains present. The tatse naturally follows the nose. Sweet start, followed by balanced body coming together with mild (only just) bitterness. Nice, drinkable, ordinary.

Lightrider (344) - Bristol, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Bottle into an ale glass. Aroma is a lite hoppy grass. Pour is a honey color with a white head. Taste is a warm malt bitter. Finish is a crisp bitter.
