2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Moose. Reddish brownish. A bit watery for an X-mas beer. Maybe a bit of ambiguous x-mas spices in the background somewhere. Not a good beer. Not bad, I guess.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Another seasonal Grimbergen product. I can’t say I had high expectations for this one, considering its counterpart (Leffe de Noel) was pleasant but not that impressive, but it managed to be rather nice, yet not very different from the regular Grimbergen. Very sweet and creamy taste, soft head, smooth aroma. Hints of caramel and light spices. Very easy to drink so it was pleasant after a good meal, but it’s not especially interesting compared to some other ones they put on the market more recently. Still cool despite its evident lack of ambitions.. APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle. Chrystal clear, deep amber with a medium sized off-white head. Looks really great actually. Medium strong aroma of dry fruit, candy sugar, toast and caramel malt. Flavor is sweet mild caramel malt, dry fruit, candy sugar and a little toast. Medium body and sweet aftertaste with a little bitter hint toward the end. Quite plain and straight forward Belgium ale, but not bad at all. No problem finishing the bottle myself to a meal.
