sweet but not as bad as a lambic. nice oddly medium-light taste of cocoa and butter. yeasty and bready. low alcohol content keeps it from having that whiskey as it warms. easy to drink, surprisingly not as heavy as i thought it was going to be.

This beer is very sweet, but in a palatable way; it’s not too thick and sticky. The toffee and chocolate is there as well as hints of sugar cane. Noticeable carbonation. A bit thin for a double, but too thin in general. It’s a great beer

(bottle) Pours a medium amber color with not much of a head. Sweet fruity aroma with hints of Chocolate. Dissapointing flavor, kind of bland and weak. The aroma led me to beleive it would have been more flavorful. I’ve had better.

on tap at BeerFest new orleans, great tasting beer, I am not sure about the color or head because it was very dark but it was a very balenced taste with a great almost wine flavor. Would buy again

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours thin, clear amber color. Nose is like kid’s candy: apple, watermelon, grape Jolly Rancher. High carbonation, explosively fizzy in mouth but not creamy. Yeast, simple sugars, a touch of wood, but generally bland and off-puttingly cloying. Not what I would call a good example of a dubbel, which can be so sublime!

Poured deep amber from the bottle. The aroma was akin to a dark bread crust. The off white, slightly bumpy head dissipated quickly, showing off a definite lace in the process. The first taste was moderately sweet, and transitioned into a slightly bitter finish.

Tap. Sweet raisin and molasses malt aroma. Dark brown color with nice head. Sweet spicy bready malt flavor. Smooth and tasty.

Bottle brown 330ml
Small but firm head giving traces of lacing, off-white or even mild cappuchino like, nose is winy, spicy and gently floral mixed with mild toasty to bready and yeasty mouldy background. Flavour very nice. malts, grains, dark bread, in fact very bready and juicy on the other hand. Sweet plum, complex wine, well built in alcohol, kind of dry, yeasty aftertaste, rounded and full taste, very smooth, delicious and easy going. palate seems a bit sticky. Its my sentimental Belgian Abbey Dubbel.

Good dark colour, head is poor, thin and patchy. Nice spicy/malty aroma, quite full bodied. Not a great example of a dubbel, but ok nevertheless. Maybe buy again. Tesco.

Bottle. Poured a gorgeous, deep brownish-red. Head dissipated quickly leaving some lace. Not much to the nose, but that may be because it’s a little too cold. Strong malt and caramel notes are accompanied by a off-putting sourness. Slightly sweet finish. Not one I’d buy again.
