Pours brown, with a head that quickly dissapears. Sweet nose like caramels mixed with tuna fish. Smooth and easy to drink but maybe one of the worst Belgian Abbey Dubbels comercialized. I understand that’s everywhere by their marketing and because people knows the Grimbergen brand but I’m really disappointed with this beer. I don’t wanna see what’s going to do Heineken with it. mcox90 (2088) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 8, 2008
12 oz bottle courtesy of Daknole. Pours a deep brown with 1/2" tan head. Nose was sweet with caramel/toffee aromas. Palate was full, creamy & moderate on carbonation. Taste was sweet with caramel & malty flavors. Quite a tasty brew. DTM (798) - Winters, California, USA - JUN 5, 2008
Bottle from a liquor store in Vacaville, CA. Poured a brown with a hint of amber color. Smelled sweet and malty. Tasted of carmel and toffee flavors. Very full-flavored and an overall good brew. donteatpoop (127) - Youngstown, Ohio, USA - JUN 1, 2008
Pours a nice dark amber brown color with a good amount of tan head and a nice glass retention.
I couldn;t pick out much other than the caramel malts on the nose.
Excellent taste, caramel malts and some raisins, finishing off once again with the caramel.
Thick and creamy in the mouth, goes down smooth.

Not a bad dubble, sampled on draft, had kind of a bit of a sour finish and aftertaste, poured a beautiful and cloudy dark brown color with a soft brown head, the beer left a nice lacing around the glass, as well, caramel and toffee in the body, very smooth and drinkable

Bottle: Barely see-through brown color with a small cream colored head. Musty and tart aromas of pitted fruit as well as green apples. Sweet flavors dominate, but not grainy sweetness. Flavors of ripe fruit mainly with a leathery aftertaste. Not bad. Thanks BuckeyBoy for sharing! IndianaRed (4609) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Bottle Pours a hazy moderate mahogany with a dense full light tan head. Nice chocolately aroma with some vinous wine like notes. Flavor is malty and chocolatey. Light brown sugar componants and a soft smooth palate. A bit sweet, but very tastey.
Thanks again to BuckeyeBoy for this one. BuckeyeBoy (7663) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Bottle pours out a dark amber topped with a sand head. Aroma of pit fruit and malt. tast of sweetpit fruit and rich malt. A touch of bitterness. Pretty good. gary07734 (500) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAY 29, 2008
0.33l bottle. Pours deep brown, beige head quickly dissapears.
Taste to me seems very metallic, quite sweet and malty but metal comes over above all else.
Not awful but I did not particularly enjoy this beer. I’ve certainly had better. robinvboyer (4652) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 24, 2008
bottle from daknole, thanks! typical doubel pour, dark mahogany color, with a big beige head. Aroma is metallic, with some ripe fruit, plums, apple, figs, and raisins, with some mealy malt to round it out. Flavour is sweet, with more raisins, and some plums, with a good malt backbone to balance things. The metallica taste seems to linger. The Finish is smooth, sweet, no bitterness. a decent double, but i wouldnt drink this everyday. I just cant kick the metallic flavour.
