Rumor has it that you can no longer find the Grimbergens in Florida...however if you can fins some (& don’t mind the high price for it), you will be greatly rewarded. My recommendation is to pour it into a room-temperature glass. Truly the finest beer to taste BETTER as it grows warmer in the glass! ZeidleBrew (8) - , Connecticut, USA - OCT 22, 2008 does not count
First poured from a bottle at the Blue Pearl in New Haven, CT, then found at a local retail store. The only thing keeping this from being the perfect beer is my belief that such a thing does not yet exist. Poured an attractive dark amber with just a little bit of head. The flavor combination of malt, caramel, and a hint of spice blended and progressed fantastically before leading to a mellow finish and overall sense of satisfaction. Definitely a beer to enjoy in smaller amounts/at a slower pace rather than in rounds at a bar. TroepHero (15) - Rheden, NETHERLANDS - JUL 13, 2011
Just like Affligem double, this one has a great mix between heaviness and sweet aftertaste.
Also it doesn’t have TOO much alcohol.
Definitely one of my favourites from Belgium. mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - APR 18, 2010
Sting on palate. Sweet fruity nature and a Belgium funk. Lucky me. Excellent!

Smells a little fruity and off, but looks nice. I think this may have strawberry or raspberry hints, but this is truly one of my favorite doubles - top notch. josesky (9) - SPAIN - JUN 17, 2012 does not count
Excelente sabor. Un aroma suave. Su color y su cuerpo incitan a su consumo. Atractiva tanto en apariencia como en sabor. JonnyMadison (87) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Snifter. Very smooth and rich, never bitter. Chocolate toffee present, but almost a grape juice flavor. Foxchainman (16) - Fox Lake, Illinois, USA - JUL 27, 2015
Chimay Red and Grimbergen dubbel are the best Belgium dubbel. Great examples of the style. Grimbergen has so many rich layered flavors. A dark red brown soup of raisin and plum flavors. Sweeten with a touch of molasses. This malt forward is a rich flavor giant and priced well below Chimay Red and way better then Ommengang Abbey Ale or New Belgium Abbey. The american version of the dubbel are so one bland. kchristodoulakis (4) - BELGIUM - JUN 18, 2017 does not count
Easy to drink beer with cool taste and very shiny color.
I drank it with Sunday meet and rice.
