Dark brown to red, with a slightly brown head wihc was small but held up well. Sour/vinegar aroma with a hint of sweetness also. Full hoppy/malty "beer" taste with a hint of sourness in the finish. Very complex and enjoyable. johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2005
Very nice nose of raisins and spice. Looks great - Ruby mahogany in the glass with a strong creamy head. Taste is a great balance between freshly thirstquenching and the traditional abbey complexity. I like it a lot. derst27 (35) - Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA - JUL 8, 2007
GREAT. The malty flavor is accented by a sweet, smooth aftertaste. Its so creamy and malty for a dubbel, I was very very pleasantly surprised. A new favorite for sure Irishmist (6) - USA - OCT 7, 2007 does not count
Now one of my favourites - malty flavor is accented by a sweet, smooth aftertaste. Creamy and malty - great body - not bitter - tastes great straight from bottle also puboflyons (3432) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 6, 2008
From a dwarf sized 12 fl. oz bottle marked: 1502QL0465A. Pours a very dark brown with a little bit of ruby red when held to the light. Creamy, beige head that stays for the entire session. Aroma of malts, hops, and nuts. The taste is extremely sweet like honey, caramel, or sugar. Yummy! I liked this one a whole lot.

dark-brown colour, large white head. A bit sweet, mild, with a metallic aftertaste. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 4, 2009
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2011 Bottle in Tolosa. Masterpiece. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, butter, dark fruit, and apple. Taste is sweet and bitter, with long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

Tap. It’s good, but not the best dubbel I had. Caramel in the aroma, and a sweet flavour with lingering bitterness. It’s thin and watery in the palate. Dark red colour, with a white and long-lasting head.

Lovely dubbel, dark bitter sweet, fresh & fruity, liked it very much. Same quality as the more famous blonde.
